The plugin Thread Flip has been installed to make the newest post show first. Too bad a copy of the OP isn't stickied on the top of Page 1, so that the reader gets the author's view of the thread and any late-breaking news that the reader should be aware of (but for which the reader is unlikely to re-visit the OP). But that could be suggested to the plugin author, and I will.
Status:
Complaints received about reversing the order. Just can't win. Temp. turned off. See my post of today later in thread.

The only problem I see is that now the OP is at the very end, which might be problematic in long discussions...

That was one thing about the former site "whose name shall not be spoken" that was good. For a few number of responses on a topic in which the OP is still present on the single page, it's not much of a problem. For lengthy topics getting to the last page for recent posts and to post new is a bit of a bother.

As of 3:55 PDT, the posts are back to how they were originally, oldest ones first.

That's because I am deleting and reinstalling, trying to get it to work again.

RNorm: See the OP.
I have been through the install process several times now, so I am as good as I will get at it. The plugin interface is not quite as clear as that of the forum (which in itself is not always clear), probably because it is designed by one person without a whole raft of polishers following behind to make sure it is as spiffy as it should be.
Plugin performance is now consistent, that is to say, the same thing happens repeatedly when viewing multiple-page* threads: It starts out at Page 1 with the OP on top, then pops to the last page where the OP is at the bottom. So it can sort posts OK, but it leaves the reader on the last page, never taking him to Page 1 where the newest posts are, so the user must click Page 1. That is wrong, but at least it is consistently wrong. Now I have to take it to Proboards support to see if that can be fixed**. Meanwhile, click Page 1 yourself and the newest post will be on top. If that is not the case in some thread, please report that fact in a reply here and include a link to it.
*Of course single-page threads will be perfect, because the first and last pages are the same.
**And I can take a break from this mess until tomorrow.

I don't care for the new layout of the posts. It is like reading a book backwards.

If you want to make a book analogy, would you, halfway through a novel, pick up the book and re-read the part that you had already read, or would you start at the bookmark where you left off? What it comes down to is not reasoned argument, but what the users want after having had it that way at "the other place" for yars and yars.

Definitely weirdness observed. I viewed several pages of a countdown thread, then the last post was on page 2 and I could not get to page 1. Went elsewhere and came back and after some navigation, the last post was on page 3 and I could not get to page 1 or page 2. In each case, when I first opened the thread, the last post was on page 1.
I actually got used to the original post order of GBO (last last) and prefer it that way.

I seems that the original posters post have all disappeared at 6:30 PM Pacific time.
I cant find any original posters post on any of the threads that I follow.
I liked it way better the way it was before!
It would be nice if the Original post would stay at the top though, but it seems they are lost.

I liked the way it was before. This "new way" is too confusing. Plus, when you can't see or find the very first post easily, the instructions and/or rules are also gone. This will be very frustrating.
Here is how it should work, if you really want to make it "newest on top": When someone clicks on the title of the thread, the board instantly takes them to the most recent post in that thread. Also clicking on the highest page number must also take you to the latest post. Think about it: Page 1 is the oldest page, page XXX is the newest page. Anything else is just illogical! And, the very first post ever to a thread should have a permanent spot above the latest post and should stay there always. Why? Because that way you know who "owns" the thread, and it will typically show the rules if there are any.
Also, why does the "quick reply" box show up at the bottom of the page? It needs to be located near the most recent post on the page, at the top..
Thanks for the hard work!

I agree BillG ! I eventually found the original posters post, by having to scroll to the bottom of the last page, (I was looking for it at the top of the last page!)

If you can sticky the original post above the replies, Then we'll all be stars.
CK, TY for your hard work!
PS, My post here saw the reply on top, yet it auto scrolled to the bottom of the page and remained
