Went and had my urological study done this morning. Involved sticking some tubes in places where they usually don’t go. The worst one was a pressure transducer up my rectum. I went a bit vasovagal at that intrusion.
I will be going in for a scope job in a week.
Should have brought an umbrella with me, but the weather guesser app says it is going to stop in about fifteen minutes. Just in time for a late lunch.

Watching the KRIV-TV (FOX 26 in Houston) morning news. A while back, they did a news story on millennials going to the doctor.
Seems they look up their symptoms on "Doctor Google" and come in thinking they're in much worse shape than they are.
I looked up my recent symptoms on "Doctor Wikipedia" and the layman's version of the Merck Manual and came to the conclusion that my frequent urination can be any one of a number of things from weak bladder muscles (they can exercise them) to cancer. But, hopefully when I go into the doctor next Tuesday, we'll find out what's going on. The doctor is taking a thorough approach to diagnosing things. Particularly with my father having bladder cancer. But his leaked blood and so far my urinalyses have had zero blood leakage.

Got a followup call from the hospital ER this afternoon. They were checking on me that I'd gone to the doctor. I told them that I went in the afternoon of the 14th. Didn't mention that I had some testing the morning of the 20th.
Got another visit on the 27th (Tuesday). It should be interesting. When they did the bladder function testing, I retained about as much fluid as I was able to expel without a catheter. Don't know what the ratio should be. The technologist asked if I'd ever been diagnosed with BPH (enlarged prostate). Wasn't that way about 2013, but around that time I functioned pretty much normally.

Saw Dr. Nguyen (urologist) this afternoon. He gave me the highlights of last Tuesday's urodynamic study. I pee at the rate of ten milliliters per second. I asked, "Is that good or bad?" He said, "Bad!" He also commented that I retain a good bit of urine when I think I'm done. I could kind of tell that from the tech's measurements (one of the things I got to see her do). He did a scope job on my bladder (nothing notable there) and a prostate echo. Like in the urodynamic study, the worst part was what they did in transrectal mode. I've got two appointments on the 5th, and prostate surgery on the 13th.
What they're going to be doing is done under anesthesia. Given my experience with anesthesia, they can put me to sleep as far as I'm concerned.

He commented that my insurance wanted everything else ruled out. Probably cheaper that way for the insurance. My medical insurance has been calling me. They also contacted me after a MRSA infection and after Harvey to ask if there was any problems taking care of my various infirmities.

Got a 26 minute phone call from Blue Cross and Blue Shield today (Wednesday, September 4th). They do follow-up on their most medically intensive policyholders. We discussed what my urologist found the 20th and the 27th. I had follow-up in 2017 when I had a MRSA infection that landed me in the hospital for 29 days, and they called me again about two years ago after Hurricane Harvey. I ended out developing a questionable place on one leg that got soaked in floodwaters. I was temporarily in the house of a male nurse until we could rough it in my house, and he said to get my doctor to look at it. It was treated with a five-day course of a topical antibiotic.

Had my pre-op testing today. Got to fill out a detailed questionnaire on what types of anesthesia they can safely use. Had surgery May 5th (Cinco de Mayo, it's easy to remember the day because my doctor said "NO CERVEZA!" but I like neither the taste or the effects) 2017 and they had great anesthesia for that operation. I got an estimate on how long the surgery will take. Two and a half hours. I was expecting a chest X-ray and an EKG. But because I had both of them done in June they didn't repeat them. The nurse brought up the EKG and I said that I have a left bundle branch block. So, all they did was lab work. Very skillful nurse, she decided to go for the back of the hand for the blood work and it was only mildly painful. They tell me on a venipuncture that pain or the lack thereof are a combination of luck and skill. Found the urine sample more frustrating. More problems with prostate on the fritz.

Medical insurance wanted me to get a flu shot. I wanted to get a flu shot, you do after having flu turn into pneumonia. Last year, my internist didn't have any so I went to a RediClinic at the local HEB. Worked so well that I went there again this morning. Killed three birds with one stone: not only the flu shot, but I went grocery shopping for mostly nonperishable items and I picked up a prescription that they had ready last night when all I wanted to do was get home.

Part of my pre-op included a PSA test. Got the results yesterday. Total level low, free PSA fraction good (higher is better). And my glucose level was 92 (normal range 65-99).
