The most fuel inefficient car I have ever owned was my very first one: a 1973 Dodge Dart Sport Coupe (same body style as the Plymouth Duster) that had a 340 V8 with a 4 barrel carburetor. Got maybe 10 mpg in the city and 14-15 mpg on the highway. When I saw how much money I was spending on gas every week I dumped it and replaced it with a Toyota Corolla hatchback which gave me 25/33 mpg.

The 1962 Nova with the six I was lucky to get 16 MPG. Cars have gotten more fuel efficient.

Even though that Nova went through the gas, it was an easy car to work on. Lots of room under the hood for the in-line six, and back then, the only emission control was a PVC valve. Rear wheel drive, so the "three on the tree" manual transmission lived behind the engine under a hump in the passenger compartment.

My worst was an 8 cylinder 1971 4 Dr Dodge POLARA, I have NO idea how bad it was, because Gas was cheaper than MILK then.
But I surely enjoyed the GREAT Ride that Car had
