So far so good, for 2024. Gee, it was a busy chat back in the Gas Buddy days. Hope your travels were nice. Here I have been focusing on getting to know more of the locals using Telegram. I was never a social media type in the past. Never got started with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and all. So Telegram is something new for me. It's helping a lot and I'm getting out more lately to hang out with folks who I have things in common with.

VanKY, what is Telegram? I have never heard about this social media. Nice to read what you have been up to.

Telegram has some similarities to Facebook and Instagram, I guess. But I have never been on those. Anyway, social media, and not much limit on how much text you can post like on Twitter. And you can post photos and links to videos, etc. What distinguishes Telegram is there is not 'algorithms' programmed to strike down your post if you use certain words. In other words, little to no censorship. You do have 'channel owners' who serve as moderators, but mostly they 'rule' with a light hand. Consequently, Telegram has attracted a lot of groups that get discriminated against, those who are not in line with the popular narrative. It's a lot of conservative folks who got driven off of the more mainstream social media during the covid years.
I like it, and I've made a few friends locally. I figured this was the time to be reaching out to others and networking. Things are going to get a bit weird in the next couple of years. It always helps to have a few friends. We can help each other. I let myself get a bit too isolated while Betty was around. And just too comfortable being alone. I'm a bit of a techie. I like to putter at my workbench. Now, nearly five years without my partner. Miss her a bunch. Working on getting re-connected out there- and having some successes, too...

I'll try to find Telegram, but I doubt there are many uses around here.
Nextdoor was big for a while but when the owners went after "money" people left Nextdoor. I do use it mainly for the local agencies that are on it and post helpful information, especially during bad weather events. One group I belonged to on Nextdoor moved to Facebook, so I joined Facebook just so I could know when the next meeting was going to be and where. Get way toooooooo much junk just from my limited use, but I did not want to lose the group connection. I lost Nick just over 2 years ago and I'm not interested in meeting another man, unless it is just for friendship like going places together. Right now, my lady friends covers my social needs, and a few married couples that I go out to dinner with every so often.
I agree about things going to be a bit weird in the next couple of years, especially our Presidental elections.
