My podiatrist wants me not to walk around in bare feet but I can't find any suitable footwear. I have a pair of sandals that painfully rub on my wound. I have a pair of slippers that are well named: they constantly want to slip off and I have to shuffle walk to keep them on. There's a third pair of shoes in the business room but I'm not going to wear them because they're the reason I do have a foot wound. Going to have to hobble around my bedroom to see if I can find anything that is still comfortable. Can you just wear socks to protect the toe and forget the shoes?

Ed--If you are getting everything paid for, then go for it. We are happy with the 2024 version of Cigna. Beware some of the plans change every year so be careful.
Sneakers--Did AJ pay the delivery charge? Or did it get charged to the credit card when you called in the prescription?
Had to take pickup to repair shop. It has been difficult to start some days. Wednesday it didn't start at all. Did Thursday to get to the shop but was idling poorly. Would cut off at traffic lights. Fearing a big bill, but they found it was a lose vacume hose. Only paid for labor.
Went to Methodist Holy Thursday service at the big church. They had 12 men portraying the disciples at the last supper. Our pastor was doubting Thomas, and another church member was Mathew.
Wife went to Catholic mass which was a very traditional mass. Not much changes in the RCC. She used to go with me to some of these special services, but when SIL was with us, she, being old school RCC convinced her going to a Methodist service doesn't count towards going to heaven or something like that. But then SIL doesn't like change.
Good Friday today and back to my church. Wife, I am sure, will go to mass again.

He told me to pop the hood and start it then did something and it started running better. He calls me out of the car and shows me what he did by sticking his thumb over a hole in the PCV line. He showed me how to replace it and what I needed to get at the parts counter at the dealership. Didn't charge me a penny and I fixed it myself for $27.

Monday was a bad school busing day. Got lots of snow on the weekend and that day. What they do is plow the snow into the middle of the road, called a Windrow. Which is okay for most situations. If school buses have to park at a school, it's a problem. We have about 20 buses that go to one street to provide busing for 3 schools. Some of the buses are shuttle buses and they have to park and wait. So they had a real problem on Monday morning and afternoon. Our operations manager went down there to tell the drives what to do, over our 2-way radio system, since this was not a normal situation. Glad I wasn't involved with that mess. My Tuesday bowling team will have a new member this fall. Someone who used to bowl in that league will join our team as our 5th player. It will be good to have a bowler with experience in our league with us. My Wednesday curling team finished the season a win. We played the same team we played a couple of weeks ago. A nice team to play against. soutxed, what are the chances the Libertarian Party will be an actual alternative to the two main parties? A lot of people aren't happy with the usual choices, but will anything change? Hopefully the Astros can bounce back today. I see it's an Apple TV game, so who will be watching? Can't be as many was the usual sports networks would get. sneakers (Metro Houston), if you don't want to move to a nursing home, then don't. If you can get by with your current situation, good for you. TGIF! Take care everyone.

Read this on my iPad about noon before I got out of bed. Great idea! I have a sock on my left foot (the one with the wound). Thought I was about to sleep all day. I won't get to have lunch right now until after three o'clock. Currently digesting my thyroid hormone which has to happen on an empty stomach.

AJ couldn't pay the delivery charge because he has no credit card. He has a worse credit history than mine, if that is possible. I even get to pay for the food the dogs eat, that's largely because it gets ordered from Chewy and that requires a credit card. The delivery charge got charged to the HEB Signature VISA. The prescription itself was no charge because it was in the lowest tier of my Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plan. But I had to go through the motions of "prepaying" $0.00 to HEB Pharmacy so they would deliver it.

sneakers (Metro Houston) , if you don't want to move to a nursing home, then don't. If you can get by with your current situation, good for you. The only person who thinks I should go to a nursing home is my brother Bruce. But you have to be incapable of doing Activities of Daily Living before it will be recommended to go to a nursing home. The only thing I can't do is drive, and that's because I had a seizure while doing physical therapy at Ignite last December. In front of all the physical and occupational therapists so they definitely knew I had a seizure. But I have AJ to drive me around. If for some reason AJ can't do it, there is Uber.
My brother Bruce and I agree on very little. We are both Boeing alumni. He likely wonders why the current CEO is going to retire at the end of the year. I wonder why the Board of Directors hasn't fired him for gross incompetence. The current CEO is a General Electric accounting puke alumni who probably doesn't know the slightest thing about engineering a safely operable product.

Sounds like the current Boeing CEO and their situation, would make for a good sitcom. Nothing like being able to stay at home. Good for you sneakers (Metro Houston).

Last night, I took my bedtime pills and fell asleep in the business room task chair. Woke up just before 3:00 AM. Took me to about 3:30 AM to get to bed.
Slept until about 12:20 PM. Wasn't awake to remind the boys it was trash day, so the trash stayed in the backyard and the business room. By the time I woke up, I could tell the trash truck had been and gone.
Watched the tail end of the KPRC Channel 2 news.
Today is a stock market holiday and CNBC was not running their usual programming, so I listened to SiriusXM Classic Rock Top 1000 on the Amazon Echo Dot.
Didn't take my morning pills until about 2:30 in the afternoon.
About 3:00 PM, Chalupa started barking. I looked up from the computer and noted there was an Amazon delivery vehicle in the driveway. They brought me my 81 mg aspirin that I'd ordered yesterday. John carried it in the business room.
Ate two four-ounce cups of HEB Tropical Mixed Fruit for lunch after 3:00 PM.
AJ planned to make meatloaf for supper tonight. About 4:20 PM, I called AJ in his bedroom and asked when the meatloaf would be ready to eat. He said it was ready to put in the oven and it would be done in an hour. I said, "If I'm going to have supper in an hour, I'm going to skip eating the rest of my lunch." AJ said he was going to go put it in the oven.
Needed to make a comfort stop. When I went to sit down on the toilet, I leaked. Not that unusual.
Knocked on John's bedroom door and asked him to get the snail mail, which he did for me.
Got two pieces of mail. One of them told me that Medicare doesn't pay for long-term care. My mental response to that was "But Medicaid does" and the letter got trashed. I have had insurance agents try to sign me up for long-term care insurance and they say I'm too fat to qualify. The other item was the annual report for Pfizer. The stock that has done the worst of my fourteen stocks.
Think I'm going to order some disposable diapers from Amazon. I'm not out yet, but I feel like I may be out of money before April 24th. Lots of expenses and a finite income.

Sneakers: That is why I am still working part-time. Money is tight with little coming from social security. Probably will work until I drop. The job is not at all great but I am going to look for another position after I have surgery.
Ed: The socks was a great idea. Didn't think of that.
Souxted: I used to attend church services but I cannot now with my work schedule and doc appointments.
Uncle: That was strange how the snow plowers in your area leave the snow in the middle of the road (windrow). I would think that would be dangerous. But I don't know how wide your roads are! You get more snow, too, where you live then we get here.
Have a nice Easter Everyone!!!

Ed--Having an honest auto mechanic is so nice. Had a few in my lifetime who were rip offs. Pick up running so much better and $95 was much better than the thousands for even a good used pickup.
Sneakers--My wife is constantly reminding me to put on slippers or socks when walking around the house. Medicare does pay for nursing homes, at least for 3 weeks, but did for BIL for nine months. But at some point while he was there he qualified for Medicaid. One thing his wife is good at is completing paperwork to qualify for government programs. As i have posted, wife and here twin do not get along. A counselor recommended that she declare her dead. Didn't quiet go that far, but now when twin calls her all she gets is background noise. That BIL is such a control freak and hates when others (like me) don't do his will.
Uncle--Moving snow to the middle of the street seems odd. But what do I know, we never get enough to plow here. Curling season over and bowling looks good for next season.
Patty--When is your surgery? I know you probably posted it but my memory isn't always as good as it used to be. Sorry you can't make it to church, maybe you can find one online to watch when you are home. We leave ours on the FB page and YouTube for a year at least.
Went to gym. Ran into a former coach who asked if I was still working games. Told him yes and they won't let me retire from that, but I enjoy it. If I do football this fall, it will be 50 years in the pressbox. We joked that the stadium should be named after me, but I didn't donate the money to build it in the first place, but maybe the pressbox after me and the other man who has been there at least 40 years.
Good Friday service went well. But our streaming kept shutting down. Probably the internet was overloaded.
Mail today is a letter from Cigna giving me permission to see a doctor about a colonoscopy. Just conseltation right now.

I would catch up if I had my tax refund back. But Wells Fargo is totally clueless. They sent me a check for $511 with a note saying I was going to get a 1099-INT. They still haven't sent the promised 1099-INT. Although it is my fault that I haven't called them to complain, figure that if I do the 1099-INT will be in the mail the same day. I'm also one more reluctant to bitch at people than I really should be. At least I'm not reluctant to vent to my acquaintances on the Internet.
Ordered my disposable diapers. Scheduled for delivery before noon. Fortunately, I was thirsty this morning and got up at six. Soon after I got up, my cell phone squawked out that I had a message from Amazon. I had to go through lots of gyrations to get it. First, they asked for my E-mail address. Then, they asked for my Amazon password. Then, being extra paranoid, they sent a six-digit code to my cell phone. Put that in and I finally got to my message from Amazon. It was to turn on my porch light. I got up and turned on my porch light, A little while later, Chalupa started barking and woke Isaiah up, Isaiah recognized there was a package at the door and he brought it in. Isaiah didn't tell me he had gotten the package. I got up a few minutes later knowing there was a package at the door. No package. Went back to the business room and noticed there was a package on the dining room table. Looked at the package and realized it was Amazon Basics disposable diapers because it was just like the package I already have in my bedroom.
Got ambulance company demanding $321. Don't have $321 unless I don't pay somebody else. Going to call ambulance company and tell them they are going to get $100 unless they want to tell me who else I shouldn't pay. FICO dings your credit score very little for medical debt, and probably anything would be swamped by the fact I have some charge-offs already. Stupid credit card companies didn't adjust my credit lines when my income halved in retirement (although I actually net more) and I was stupid enough to run up my card balances. Now having a lawyer negotiate down my card payments to something that's manageable. My credit card companies are getting to take a haircut. Credit card companies haven't called me, if I do I just tell them that they need to talk to my lawyer. After that, if they call me, I E-mail the lawyer and they file a complaint that the creditors aren't following the law. Credit card companies know not to call me twice because if they do the lawyer tells them they're not following the law and therefore should settle for less money. Anything in the mail I get from the affected cards gets scanned and E-mailed to the law firm. So far, none of the creditors have tried to sue me for nonpayment. If they do, I pay the lawyer $300 and they eat the rest of the cost.
Having to deal with clueless UTMB Hospital. They misprocessed my claim from January 8th. They told me it was not rejected by my insurer. They lied. Clueless billing office billed my Medicare Supplement as Medicare Advantage and the insurance kicked it back January 17th. I have known that for over two months but they have done nothing. I have bitched at them twice, "SEND IN CLEAN BILLS SO YOU CAN GET PAID, I DON'T LIKE BILLS HANGING OVER MY HEAD HALFWAY TO FOREVER!" Probably not surprising because the UTMB billing clerks are Goverrnment employees that do things with the efficiency of the typical DMV. (I will say the Texas DMV is better than the ones people complain about.)
Having to deal with Medicare. They won't pay the podiatrist that is healing my foot wound because they think I'm in hospice. I rejected hospice a while back because their philosophy is "OMG, that patient is trying to get well. Can't have that when they're in hospice!" Talked to podiatrist Wednesday and he said there was no reason for me to be in hospice. He almost didn't believe me until I told him they have been giving me showers three times a week for two months and even a chaplain to pray over me (such is the state of "separation of church and state" in Texas). Don't object to the chaplain other than I don't need hospice.
Having to deal with brother Bruce. He actually thinks I should sell my house and go into a nursing home. He is surprised that I am quite negative on that subject. You have to be incapable of doing Activities of Daily Living to go into a nursing home and the only thing that I can't do is drive but I have AJ to drive me. If I didn't have AJ, I'd call an UBER. I wrote Bruce and told him a few facts about nursing homes. Some I would think he would be aware of because Mom was in a nursing home. Bruce and I agree on very little. We are both Boeing alumni. He wonders why the CEO of Boeing is retiring the end of the year. I wonder why the CEO of Boeing hasn't been fired for incompetence. He says to talk to my cousins. I'd really prefer to talk to Sonja but Martha is the only one that regularly answers the phone. Janet has enough grief on her plate without me unloading on her.
Drank all my sugar-free tea. Now down to water and pop. Isaiah and John have consumed nearly all the milk and that will trigger a trip to HEB so I can buy more tea. (I'm going to try to not let AJ go to Food Town because they are only 20% more expensive than HEB. He says HEB is too crowded. Bothers him, but it doesn't bother me.) Think I need to buy more lunchmeat. I've got plenty of cheese.
Wearing a sock on the damaged foot. Didn't even take it off last night.
Almost done writing this and I fumble-fingered Google Chrome into the bit bucket. Fortunately, "Save Drafts" worked.

Your wife should remind you to put something on your feet. Around here, there are enough small particles on the floor (John is not the best cleaner) that if you don't you step on some little thing that feels like a boulder.
Medicare only pays for a nursing home 100 days (I was pretty close last year) and that's if you're in active rehabilitation. They most certainly do NOT pay for nine months. The "some point he qualified for Medicaid" was probably about the time Medicare stopped paying.
The control freak BIL is Mormon, right? Just remind him that this planet already has its God and he only gets to be God for some other newly formed planet out there.

Sounds like the current Boeing CEO and their situation, would make for a good sitcom. They could do one episode about how they spun off Spirit AeroSystems and then when Spirit messed up they decided to re-acquire them.
They could do another about constantly moving the World HQ. First out of Seattle, then to Chicago, and then finally to Virginia so they can more effectively lobby the Government and not have a HQ where there aren't any rank and file employees to have to deal with at strike time.
They could do a third about merging with McDonnell Douglas and then when military is doing good and commercial is on the rocks they plan to sell off their profitable military part to raise money to go down the rathole that is commercial airplanes.

Talked to AJ, placed a delivery order from HEB because tomorrow almost everything but the churches will be closed. I can't drive and AJ let the registration expire so he doesn't want to drive. Our order is scheduled for 6:30 and came about 6:40. The most expensive thing was the Easter ham. But never fear, HEB had a "Meal Deal" coupon that got me four items at no extra charge when you buy the ham. I told AJ that I don't usually order a gallon of ice cream but this one was free.
One time, I had maxed out my HEB Signature VISA (not so hard, they didn't give me a very high credit limit) so I used my debit card. Had a mouse-o ordering today and the HEB ordering app selected the debit card and submitted the order. I wanted to use the HEB VISA for the rebates. Discovered that the only way I could change cards was to cancel and re-enter the order. Naughty HEB app!
Have a prescription to get delivered Monday from HEB. A $1 prescription with a $7.95 delivery fee. Tried to schedule it this afternoon for Monday and the Partner asked me to call Monday.
AJ and John had an argument about all the time John spends playing video games. John doesn't know when to shut his mouth when he's ahead. So he's not playing video games.
Had a can of original flavor Diet Dr Pepper. Wish I had some sugar-free tea. Don't burp like crazy on the sugar-free tea.
Seem to be leaky today. Usually don't need to change my diaper unless I'm putting on a fresh one after a shower. Not today. At least I'm dry now.
Listened to SiriusXM Classic Rock Top 1000 until five o'clock. Then I turned on KPRC Channel 2 for "The Texas Bucket List," the NBC Nightly News, and the local news. When that was over, I switched to FOX 26 for the Astros-Yankees game. Hopefully a better result than the first two. Astros now ahead 2-1 in the third inning. In the second inning, the Yankee first baseman had a ball slip out of his glove, letting an Astros batter get a single. Next Astros batter, the Yankee pitcher hit with the ball and now we have men on first and second base.
