Current status around here is that the medical equipment company hauled off the hospital bed. But, as of the last time I was up, AJ had not started putting together the bed I will need to sleep on tonight. The bed I sleep on needs to have a waterproof covering. The sofa, the only flat place I could sleep that we have now, does not have a waterproof cover. He could put the mattress on the floor but I'd have a time getting up. AJ just walked in the business room and he's going to do the bed, with the frame and the box springs, shortly. Hopefully will do it before our groceries arrive, after that AJ will be busy fixing supper.
I had ordered a mattress cover from Amazon but got the wrong size. Ordered it in January. Too late to return it by over two months. Until I get the mattress cover, the mattress will stay in the plastic bag in came in. Tried it that way in the showroom, wasn't that different from the vinyl hospital bed.
At lunch, I looked in the fridge and realized "no milk!" Usual reason to go to HEB. Because the Escape has a bad head gasket, we ordered delivery. AJ and I discussed what to order. I ordered most of it, but had to do an add-on because I forgot to order bread. After that, I realized that we had no birthday cake yesterday. Decided to have a belated one. Did another add-on to my HEB order for a strawberry swirl cheesecake (what I wanted in the way of cake). No candles though, for me that would make the cake a fire hazard. Just got a text from HEB that everything I ordered was in stock. The order is scheduled to arrive between 7:30 and 8:30 PM.
Just finished sipping a Dr Pepper Zero Sugar Cherry while writing. The can went in the trashcan that gets used only for pop cans fo Isaiah can sell them for recycling. Still watching the evening news, but when it is over at 6:30 PM I'll listen to music on the Amazon Alexa Echo Dot. Looked and saw no Astros game today. They need the break to figure out how to win a game.

Blood donation well well. I've got appointments booked until September, but a few will be cancelled. I don't want anyone getting my 6:40pm Thursday appointment time. patty7841, you're absolutely right. I had a bad evening of bowling, but there is next week to make up for it. We still had fun. soutxed, the Astros run deferential has to change. Hopefully that happens sooner rather later. Glad your Colonoscopy went well. sneakers (Metro Houston), happy to hear your birthday went well. Except for the problem with the Escape TGIF! Take care everyone.

Got my new bed set up, so no renting a hospital bed next month. But now we have another unexpected expense. AJ thinks it can be fixed for a little more than renting a hospital bed.

Noted during lunch today that we were out of milk, despite shopping Wednesday (only bought one gallon then). AJ and I looked around for what we needed. Also what AJ and I planned for supper (but AJ changed his mind twice: first chicken leg quarters, then hamburgers, finally when he saw me getting a piece of the cheesecake he decided to let me feed myself). Because of the Escape, I ordered delivery from HEB. What we ordered:
Two packages of Shake 'N Bake Extra Crispy chicken coating mix (more expensive than the chicken it goes on!) A loaf of HEB Split Top Butter Bread A loaf of HEB Thin Sliced Enriched White Bread A 6" strawberry swirl cheesecake A one-gallon jug of Red Diamond Sugar-Free Tea Two one-gallon jugs of HEB 2% milk Three boxes of Red Baron four-meat frozen pizza (aka "default food") A package of HEB chicken leg quarters Two packages of Martha White strawberry cheesecake muffin mix One package of Martha White blueberry muffin mix A 4# bag of Imperial Sugar granulated sugar
Our food arrived about five minutes earlier than the 7:30-8:30 PM delivery window started. I got up to see if the food was picked up. John was so zoned out on headphones that he didn't hear the knock but I did. Can't really carry in groceries with a walker, so I got John to do it.

Sneakers--Too bad the Escape ruined your birthday. Hopefully AJ can repair it. Got the mail that was in informed delivery. Also getting the bed set up in time for bedtime was good! Maybe I should ask for that prep next time, but there won't be a next time. Now waiting to see what is covered by Medicare. How was the cake?
Uncle--Good idea to make those appointments ahead of time. Sorry your bowling seems to be slipping. How much longer? Astros off yesterday as they go to Mexico City for a couple of games.
Had the tree trimmer come yesterday as we had several trees needing it. One was just about to rub against the electric lines. Can't have that.
Went to a birthday party last night. Was good to get out with local friends. Have another tonight. Then another next weekend.
Will try to mow the lawn as I need to get some steps recorded.

Sneakers--Too bad the Escape ruined your birthday. Hopefully AJ can repair it. The Escape didn't ruin my birthday that much. All I knew Thursday was the OBD-II indicators were not set, the engine was running slightly warmer than usual, and the coolant overflow tank was low. Didn't know how much of a problem we had until AJ investigated Friday. In the past, AJ has swapped out a truck transmission. But I don't think he wants to try that again.Got the mail that was in informed delivery. I do get mine consistently showing something that I see about ten o'clock the night before arriving in the mail the next afternoon. But the Friendswood Post Office seems to run better than most. Also getting the bed set up in time for bedtime was good! AJ had it set up before nine o'clock in the evening, and I went to bed at 11:26 PM (asked Alexa the time when I was settled down). But I woke up at three in the morning. AJ was still up. He was heading to bed just as I woke up.Maybe I should ask for that prep next time, but there won't be a next time. My prep with SUPREP was so agreeable (no cramping, just a gentle drizzle into the toilet) that I will ask for it again next time. As to there not being a next time, you with polyps will have your doctor wanting to do it. So, you will be going against medical advice. Something that I don't do unless they want me to lose weight. But recently I've been doing that, too! Pushing around a walker takes more energy than walking! Now waiting to see what is covered by Medicare. IIRC, on Original Medicare, it's covered at 100% if they find no polyps and 80% if they find one or more polyps. If you have a Medicare Supplement, it picks up the remaining 20%. But since you're Medicare Advantage, they should cover at least that much.It was very good. Strawberry swirl cheesecake is a slam-dunk for me. But I only bought a small one that weighs a pound. If I told all us to have some of my birthday cake I probably wouldn't get another piece.

Uncle: Good that your blood donation went well. I agree with booking your appointments ahead of time for donations is a good idea. That way no one can take your time slot.
Soutxed: How long is it recommended to have colonoscopies? Is there an age cut off date? If not, then you should have another one to keep you healthy. Hope your results come back negative.
Sneakers: Good that you are enjoying your birthday cheese cake. Good to share though. Your bed is set up. Good for you. It will be better and less expensive than the hospital bed you were renting.
Enjoy the weekend!!!

Sneakers: Good that you are enjoying your birthday cheese cake. Good to share though. Had a piece as part of last night's supper. At lunch today, I had another piece of it and I could tell somebody else had had a piece but nobody has told me who took the piece as I was wondering who had it. When AJ was fixing his lunch, I told him to have a piece. He said he wanted "real food." Guess that's a hamburger because that was what he was cooking. As if cheesecake isn't real food? Don't know what kind of cake he was expecting, maybe angel food.Your bed is set up. Good for you. It will be better and less expensive than the hospital bed you were renting. It's set up but I only slept four hours in it last night. Been in my task chair in the business room drifting in and out all day watching the news and listening to SiriusXM Classic Rewind. Heard two Boston songs between 10:30 AM and 4:55 PM, one of them was "Rock and Roll Band." Saw the weather guess just before 6:30 PM. Rain expected tomorrow evening and Monday. Long range forecast back to saying no rain on Wednesday, the "go to the podiatrist" day. Expect I'll have to take an UBER. No working vehicles right now. Fortunately, it's the day my Boeing pension arrives so I'll have plenty of funds.
AJ made chicken leg quarters and instant mashed potatoes for supper. Got them just after 6:30 PM. They got put on my walker tray because my desk is cluttered. AJ said "Clean off your $$$$ desk!" Pulled off all the meat I can get with a fork, then decided the chicken was too hot to pick up in my hands. Waited for the chicken to cool down so I could pick it up. Ate all the chicken and some of the instant mashed potatoes. Instant mashed potatoes are not AJ's best food. Chalupa dog stuck her head up in my lap and whined for something to eat. I told her "Don't think you can have any." I knew from experience that she would not eat the instant mashed potatoes. Around here, you can get fed supper any time between six and ten o'clock. Being open-minded is essential.
Took the plate in the kitchen and scraped it off in the kitchen trashcan. It was not full, so I don't think Chalupa can get the bones. Put the plate in the sink, washed my hands, then decided it was about time for a comfort stop. Made my comfort stop and washed my hands again. Now back in the business room listening to Classic Vinyl from SiriusXM and writing.

Sneakers: Do the instant mashed potatoes come in a box. If they are, I can see why you do not like them. My mother made those years ago but only on occasion. It was just quicker for her to make while feeding a large family. I never liked them as they had no taste whatsoever. The chicken sound good though. Enjoy your cheesecake while it lasts.

It was just quicker for her to make while feeding a large family. I never liked them as they had no taste whatsoever. They came in a box. The way AJ talked, he's not going to buy any more of them. I'll put the bug in his ear to buy scalloped potatoes instead. They taste much better. I tried feeding the instant mashed potatoes to Chalupa dog and she wouldn't eat them. The chicken sound good though. It was. HEB chicken leg quarters coated in Shake 'N Bake Chicken coating bought at HEB. The coating cost more than the chicken!Enjoy your cheesecake while it lasts. Finished off the last piece just after nine o'clock tonight.

Sneakers-Most medical people say after 80, a colonoscopy is not really necessary. See what the thinking is in five years. They ask for $100 up front so I suspect that is all I will pay. But then there are other people involved. But Cigna will give me $40 on my OTC card for having the colonoscopy, but I can use it at designated stores for anything but alcohol and guns. I cleaned off my desk the day before the colonoscopy because I couldn't do much else.
Patty--As I told Sneakers, the cut off age is 80, which my family doctor said when he scheduled this one. But then he retired. There is another doctor at the clinic I will see this week for my annual physical, which Cigna covers fully and will pay me something for having taken it. My mother would make the powder instant potatoes but would put one or two real potatoes in there. Most of the time we couldn't tell.
Mowed the lawn yesterday and tried to weed it, but the weed eater was not cooperating. It doesn't like me, and the feeling is mutual. Almost always does something to delay finishing the job. I have had five or six of them and all were pieces of junk, but still easier than using a shovel to trip the grass.
For the last several days we have had strong winds out of the south. At the same time, not a coincidence, the Mexican farmers near the border burn their crops. Both of us have allergies and not sure how much more we can stand. Thinking about going to Victoria after the doctor's appointments this week to get away. Weather people day the winds should die down.
Hopefully church goes well. Pastor still on a pilgrimage to Greece with some other church members.

soutxed, just one more evening of bowling until August. Hopefully I'll play better, along with my teammates. The Astros playing in Mexico City? How often have they done that? patty7841, at times, if you have an future appointment, they enter your name in to win something. I like to book ahead of time anyway. Take care everyone.

Watched the nine o'clock and ten o'clock news last night before I went to bed.
Second night on the new mattress, I slept about nine hours with the usual waking up for comfort stops.
Got up and went in the business room. Watched the tail end of the ABC 13 morning news.
Then, I turned on Cousin Martha's streaming church service. The scripture the pastor preached on was Daniel 7. The altar call had a couple respond by professions of faith.
I was smelling food in the kitchen being cooked by Isaiah while the service was on, so I was a little distracted thinking about what was for lunch. Afterwards, I got my lunch.
Started out with an eight-ounce can of sliced peaches. Popped the pull top, then set about fishing peaches with a fork. After I ate, I drank the juice. A hundred calories total. When I threw the can in the trash, AJ heard the clank and asked if all was OK. It was.
Went into the kitchen to get HEB Super Duper Butter Bread, bologna, and Swiss cheese. Had two sandwiches, both with two slices of bread, cheese, and meat.
Noted we needed groceries. Discussed tonight's supper with AJ. Decided to have shepherds' pie because it has been a long time since we had it. Maybe back in 2023. We had only a small amount of milk and lunchmeat left, along with cheese and Dr Pepper. Completely out of sugar-free tea and had a can of Dr Pepper Zero Sugar Cherry. Placed a delivery order with HEB. Estimated it will be here at 6:30 PM. AJ then said supper will be ready to eat around eight o'clock tonight.
Just measured the thickness of my new mattress (nine inches) so I can get on Amazon and order a mattress protector that fits. Up to when the mattress protector arrives, I'll be sleeping with it in the plastic bag it was shipped in from the factory. At least the plastic bag feels better to the touch than the vinyl hospital bed.
Called the family members a bit ago. Only talked to cousins Janet and Martha.
Just got a text from the wound care nurse. Asked if the eleven o'clock hour was OK for tomorrow's visit. I said it would be. Next things on the agenda are Tuesday's trash day and Wednesday's visit with Dr. Clause.

Sneakers-Most medical people say after 80, a colonoscopy is not really necessary. See what the thinking is in five years. If they hold to the "every five years" my doctor gave me last colonoscopy and "not after 80," I will have three more. At 69, 74, and 79. The first one wasn't half-bad and I hope the other three go as good. They ask for $100 up front so I suspect that is all I will pay. But then there are other people involved. I had my last one when I was 64 and I was under Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. No charge. But Cigna will give me $40 on my OTC card for having the colonoscopy, but I can use it at designated stores for anything but alcohol and guns. One of the things from Medicare Advantage, but it probably doesn't outweigh the Medicare Advantage Disadvantages.I cleaned off my desk the day before the colonoscopy because I couldn't do much else. Mine has only gotten worse as the weekend goes on. AJ may have to turn off the ThinkPad to get me to do it. (I first wrote "turn off the Wi-Fi" and then I remembered I have a wireless broadband card in the ThinkPad and AJ can't block it from working!)

After I wrote last time, I made a comfort stop. Decided I needed a fresh diaper afterwards. Went in my bedroom, sat down on the bed, and changed my diaper. Now, I am a lot more comfortable. Threw the dirty diaper in the business room trashcan.
After that, I got on Amazon. Ordered myself a waterproof twin mattress protector and two sets of Amazon Basics twin sheets with one pillowcase. Had my payment default to a credit card that I no longer have but I changed it to my Discover Card instead. Estimated delivery Tuesday. Up to then, I'll keep the shipping bag on the mattress to prevent any leak problems.
Then, it was almost time for the five o'clock news. I turned to ABC 13. Noted they had on a basketball game, and decided to make a comfort stop so I wouldn't need to during the news. Came back, the game went so long that they only have on the local news. Thunderstorms are expected to the north, then they will come in here about four o'clock Monday morning.
Got a text from HEB. Everything was in stock except the strawberry fruit bars. For those, they substituted sugar-free strawberry fruit bars. Know not to pig out on anything that contains sugar alcohols, like the sugar-free strawberry fruit bars, from experience. But if I only eat two a day I should be fine.
News is now over. Turned on SiriusXM Classic Rewind. Writing a letter to brother Bruce next. I haven't written him in almost a week. Lots of news for him to get since then. Looked, Favor Delivery says my HEB order will be here in thirty minutes.
