Man you don't keep these things in your head do you Zim? Scanning through your last post was like scanning computer code. What fun would that be aifresh? From the backs of baseball cards, to finding the MacMillan Baseball Encyclopedia at the library (from which I created top 100 HR lists on paper) to the Bill James Baseball Abstract and Baseball-reference.com, I have always loved baseball statistics. The original GB thread was just the big milestones, but then I was watching a game and they announced that such and such player just passed someone for 78th on the all time list and thought what a fun thing to track. It gives some context to the achievements of today's players, when you see Albert Pujols just passed Jimmie Foxx for 9th all-time in RBI, which will probably get a lot less publicity than when he reaches 3,000 hits to tie Clemente for 31st. I am second-guessing moving from top 100 to top 200 though, as it adds a lot of work to updating.

Man you bring back to being a kid playing sandlot. I loved following box scores and stats of my favorite players and team. Always looked for the daily paper after my dad was done with it. He read a tabloid style paper where the sports started on the back page. I started reading a newspaper at about 11 back page first comics next. It grew to reading from back to front pretty much every article. Maybe not every word but at least skim stuff that didn't really float my boat. That turned into reading all 3 competing newspapers in my area. Amazing how differently they saw the world. Still read from back to front. Still try and balance out the viewpoints. Sports has always been a passion. Sadly the real world has permeated and my passion is waning. The coverage, the radio talk and the TV sports stations have become less about sports and more about off field drama. Maybe not in your market but def in mine.
