They're not good or bad; they're dead! Now that you can buy LED bulbs of various sizes and color temps at the 99¢ store, you will probably be hard put to buy one any more. It was a stop-gap technology. A relative replaced all his with LEDs and gave me a bag of CFLs. When I wear them out, it's all LED for me. No breakage. No RFI. Do disposal problems.

mostly using CFLs until they burn out, then swap with LED.
Oddly enough I have two "energy saving" bulbs that generate RFI: one a LED, other a CFL. All my other CFLs and LEDs are fairly quiet and I don't hear them on my 11m (i.e. CB) radio. These two bulbs cause annoying noise.

The fact that CFL bulbs are pretty much gone from Walmart should indicate how low they've fallen out of favor.

A so-called "environmentalist" throwing out CFLs before they burn out is not an environmentalist.

I once was at Costco a few years ago purchasing some $0.01 CFLs when an environmentalist type told me I should go and take my non-cfls to a particular "green" business in town about 15 miles away and exchange then for free cfls and save money over purchasing from Costco...

While cleaning out a back closet to get ready for Easter, my wife discovered about five or six 100-watt incandescent bulbs that got shoved back against the wall. Collectors items???

Those incandescent bulbs may be of use to US agriculture inspectors as they need those kind to generate enough heat for some bugs to be active

Overnight one of the covered-up CFLs we had been using in our bedroom burned out so Mrs. 'bro (my wife, of course!) pulled out one of those old incandescent bulbs and replaced it this morning!

Why on earth would anyone want to use incandescent nowadays if they don't have to? What's wrong with LEDs? You can even get them in a nice warm temp. version that is just as good for reading, sewing, etc.

LEDs and CFLs do not work well for use as a dim bulb tester...
