The Royals added 2 free agent pitchers this week. Brad Boxberger agreed to a one year contract. Boxberger saved 32 games for the Diamondbacks in 2018. Boxberger appears to be a positive addition to the Royals bullpen. Homer Bailey agreed to a minor league contract. Bailey is on the final year of a $105 million contract. The Dodgers will pay approximately $22.5 million of Bailey's salary and the Royals will pay approximately $555,000 of Bailey's salary in the event Bailey is selected to be on the Royals 25 man roster. Bailey was an impressive as a starting pitcher for the Reds prior to being signed to the $105 million contract. Since the contract, Bailey has been a disaster as a pitcher and his contract has turned out to be one of the worst in the history of MLB.

The Royals announced that Salvador Perez had an MRI which showed damage to his ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. He’ll travel to Los Angeles next week to receive a second opinion. His season may be lost. That type of injury in pitchers often results in Tommy John surgery.

ə the royals must do better this season! it makes no sense that they could have performed so miserably last year. while i like the royals, i prefer the twins, though if that team does badly, the royals are my second fave. maybe this will be the year for the royals to win 100! ə

Sorry Naked Drive, but I don't believe the Royals can win 100 without Salvador Perez. Even with Perez, an 80 win season is probably out of reach.

The Royals start 2019 with a 5-3 victory over the White Sox. Brad Keller pitched 7 strong innings. On the negative, the only hits were by Merrifield, Mondesi, and Soler.

Homer Bailey made his debut for the Royals today. Bailey pitched 5 innings and surrendered 3 runs. That is much more impressive than many of the starts that he had with the Reds since being given a $105 million contract.

Whit Merrifield is in the midst of a 28 game hitting streak.

ə the royals have become the second team to lose twenty games, against nine victories. only the marlins can equal that, but they have one win fewer. the royals may be losing, but the twins are doing better, so there is hope for the season yet. i hope the royals win at least half in 2019! ə

The Royals will likely lose 100 games in 2019, but I still gotta love them.
