Alpha particle ~ (Chemistry) Alpha particles, also called alpha rays or alpha radiation, consist of two protons and two neutrons bound together into a particle identical to a helium-4 nucleus. They are generally produced in the process of alpha decay, but may also be produced in other ways. Alpha particles are named after the first letter in the Greek alphabet, α.

Bioluminescence (Biology)
Bioluminescence is a naturally occurring phenomenon can be found in organisms in the ocean’s depths as well as on land, though 80 percent of the living organisms that display it are found in the ocean.
Example: Bioluminescent Jellyfish

Caisson ~~ Civil Engineering
Caisson– A 10″ or 12″ diameter hole drilled into the earth and embedded into bedrock 3 – 4 feet
There are a lot of types of Caissons, this is just one type used in civil eng.

Diabase (Geology)
Diabase is a mafic, holocrystalline, subvolcanic rock equivalent to volcanic basalt or plutonic gabbro.
Diabase dikes and sills are typically shallow intrusive bodies and often exhibit fine grained to aphanitic chilled margins which may contain tachylite (dark mafic glass).
Diabase is the preferred name in North America, while dolerite is the preferred name in the rest of English-speaking world, where sometimes the name diabase is applied to altered dolerites and basalts. Some geologists prefer the name microgabbro to avoid this confusion.

Euler's Number ~ Mathematics The number e, also known as Euler's number, is a mathematical constant approximately equal to 2.71828, and can be characterized in many ways. It is the base of the natural logarithm. It is the limit of ⁿ as n approaches infinity, an expression that arises in the study of compound interest. Hadron ~~ Physics
In particle physics, a hadron is a subatomic composite particle made of two or more quarks held together by the strong force in a similar way as molecules are held together by the electromagnetic force. Most of the mass of ordinary matter comes from two hadrons: the proton and the neutron

Islet of Langerhans (Biology)
Islets of Langherhans are a small group of cells found in the pancreas.
The pancreatic islets or islets of Langerhans are the regions of the pancreas that contain its endocrine cells, discovered in 1869 by German pathological anatomist Paul Langerhans.
The pancreatic islets constitute 1–2% of the pancreas volume and receive 10–15% of its blood flow. The pancreatic islets are arranged in density routes throughout the human pancreas, and are important in the metabolism of glucose.

Jadeite ~ Geology A high-pressure clinopyroxene that is frequently carved and polished as a gemstone. Jadeite, along with nephrite, are the two minerals that share the cultural term "jade." Jadeite is the more desirable of the two minerals because it is more durable, works easier, and polishes to a higher luster. The photo shows a hand-made Mayan jadeite pectoral from the Mayan Classic period.
