The Beatles: 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' Actual lyric: "I wanna hold your hand." Just to confuse matters, John Lennon used to sing the misheard version at the height of Beatlemania!

I was listening to the 60s on 6 Satellite Survey Countdown from the last week of October of 1967 a short while ago. The #2 song that week was Sam and Dave's Soul Man. In checking it out afterward, apparently there are a lot of misheard lyrics associated with this song. Narrator/Host Dave Hoeffel shared the most famous one (I misheard it during the song!) apparently made by The Blues Brothers in their 1978 cover: Hoeffel also cleared up another misconception: That Sam & Dave's Woodstock reference was to the famous festival. Woodstock didn't happen until August of '69, about two years after the song's release! The Woodstock reference in the song was actually a reference to the high school in Memphis that David Porter, the lyricist of the song, attended. Another alternative for "good stock" according to the link is "good scotch". Now that's an education worthy of bragging about!

One of my least favorite songs, Midnight at the Oasis, was playing on SeriusXM's 70s on 7 this afternoon. Hearing the second line of the song as "sing my camel to bed", I wondered what sense does that make? So I searched for it on my phone, having to type only "Sing my cam" into the browser before the lyric I heard was the search suggestion.
I learned that it's actually, "Send my camel to bed", which at least sounds remotely possible.
I read the rest of the song's lyrics and while I still don't like it, at least I have one less reason to dislike it when I hear it in the future before flipping stations.

This meme, presenting a parody of the Eurythmics' 1983 hit Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This), is based on what I learned to be a commonly misheard lyric dating at least to 1993: According to this blog post:

I was listening to last weeks 60s Satellite Survey from 1969 a little while ago. Show host Dave Hoeffel introduced the #11 song by saying it was one of the top songs with misheard lyrics. The song was Bad Moon Rising by Creedence Clear Water Revival: Misheard Lyrics:
Don't come around tonight It's bound to take all night There's a bathroom on the right. Original Lyrics:
Don't go around tonight Well, it's bound to take your life There's a bad moon on the rise. Hoeffel focused only on the bathroom on the right but he's only got so much time. Apparently, there's a lot of this song that's misunderstood.

This meme (there are also t-shirts) is probably more of a punny play on words than a misheard situation but it kind of fits for Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine: Edit: The original meme disappeared, so I replaced it with something similar. Original:
Ain't no Sunshine When She's gone. Misheard:
Ain't no sunshine When Cheese gone.
