ə after a long hiatus, i finally got back on here! hope everyone is doing well, and that we got used to not posting on that other place except for comments on the news. the last year has been okay. not spectacular, but not horrendous either. i got to ride on two long bicycle expeditions, the bike across missouri (bam) and ragbrai®. in addition, i completed the counties of oregon and wyoming, and i now can say i have finished at least one state in each column from the pacific ocean to indiana, plus delaware. i need only four counties to complete idaho, and hope to finish off washington, california, montana, colorado, arizona, new mexico, n. dakota, and part of texas. later, i hope to complete michigan, ohio, and pennsylvania, which will give me an unbroken line of states from one ocean to the other. the states i would traverse to make the line to indiana are: oregon, nevada, utah, wyoming, nebraska, iowa, illinois, and indiana. there are several other routes i could take, but that one involves the least driving. i need five counties to complete mi, and three in ct. if things go right, i plan to take out some of the southeast states: ms, al, fl, ga, gn, ky, sc, nc, va, wv, md, and maybe parts of oh and pa as well. i have no idea if that trip will materialize. i got in little chess last year, and performed relatively poorly. since the place we go locally has decided they no longer want my business, i have no venue to play in here, though am on a correspondence site. by the time march 23 rolls around, i will have driven almost 50000 miles in my little car, in two years! hope to meet up with some of the others on here soon! ə

ə first of all, have any of you had a problem with pb “losing” your posts? i have had this happen on three separate occasions in different forums, and twice in this one! i’ve now tried to get in the habit of clicking the bbcode button and copying the entire post to the buffer, then pasting it into a text document (i use gedit) so that if the post fails to work, i can recover it. (it would be so much easier if bbcode did a line break with the “br” command instead of the container “div”!) i hope all are enjoying this place since they eliminated the forums except for commenting on the news at the other one. in the time i was away, i have made a few fairly long trips. the first began 05/14 and ended 06/14, covered around 12000 miles and seeing twelve states, gaining counties in five. i then went to missouri on 06/16 to ride the bam which saw me encounter multiple disasters. i returned home to try to go to chicago, but got started too late and thus went to wisconsin and michigan where i picked up nine counties in the latter; i would have finished it but for two things that delayed me too much. at the end of july, i did ragbrai® which was immensely fun if grueling. i should add that i did both those bike rides wearing only shorts and a cap! of course, i wear even less most of the time while driving a car. my little vehicle, which i bought 03/23/2017, now has about 49000 miles on it that i have added! i should be close to 50000 by that date this year! (total about 263000.)
my bare feet have taken me across some interesting surfaces in this past year. lots of snow and ice, plus some fairly hot stretches. wishing everyone a pleasant spring, lent, and summer! ə
