The Rays and manager Kevin Cash have finalized a deal on a multiyear extension that puts him under contract through 2024. Cash impressively led the Rays to 90 wins this season, dealing with a winter/spring purge of veterans from the roster, injuries to several key pitchers, introduction and implementation of the unorthodox opener pitching strategy, additional July trades and transitioning to a core of young players. Cash received considerable praise around the game for his work, and is expected to finish in the top three in the American League Manager of the Year voting. Players lauded his strong communication skills and how he created a relaxed environment for them.

Opening weekend for the Tampa Bay Rays. All teams are equal, for at least one day! Hope the Rays have a winning season.

Jose Alvarado's pitches are nasty. So far he looks like he may be one of the top closers for 2019.

Team is off to a great start this year especially when compared to last year's start.

I won't be surprised if the Ray win the division, considering the chronic injuries with members of the Yankees, the defection of key bullpen pitchers from the Red Sox, and the frequent problem of defending World Championship teams settling into complacency.

Rays are in second place 2 games behind the Yankees. Rays are playing much better ball this year when compared to the same time last year. Hope they can keep it up.

"ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays have been given permission by Major League Baseball to explore splitting future seasons between Tampa Bay and Montreal.
Published reports said the plan couldn't take effect until approval from several parties, including the MLB players union.
Montreal has been without a baseball team since the end of the 2004 season, when the Expos moved to Washington.
The Rays, despite winning 90 games last season and standing in second place in the AL East, continue to rank at the bottom of the league in attendance. They joined MLB in 1998 and have played at Tropicana Field since.
In a statement released on the team's Twitter account, Rays owner Stuart Sternberg said: "My priority remains the same, I am committed to keeping baseball in Tampa Bay for generations to come. I believe this concept is worthy of serious exploration."
Mayor Rick Kriseman expressed frustration with the situation in an afternoon news conference.
"I'm tired of the games being played to try and get a stadium built," he said. "I've done more to try and keep (the Rays) in the region than anyone has," Kriseman said, adding he is ready and willing to sit down with team officials and negotiate. "It's hard to ask fans and businesses to be all in when the team hasn't fully committed to us. Make a decision," Kriseman said.
It wasn't immediately clear how the plan would work. Some reports stated that the team could play half the season in each city. It's not clear how playoff games would be handled."
No one thinks this is really going to happen. Probably just a way to get financing to keep the team somewhere in the area. Had a "go" to build at a new location but the owners would not come up with the rest of the needed money. Could make a movie out of all that has been happening and this one is just silly, in my opinion.

Don't let the Owners there PULL a Loria Trick on Tampa Bay...
We are for ever doomed here with any other SPORTS projects, MLS cannot get in here because the CORRUPT Politicians got SPOILED with LORIA and they ALL want a take before moving an inch !

Well it is the final push for the Rays to get a playoff spot. Right now they are one game behind the A's and 1.5 games ahead of Cleveland. Sure hope the Rays make it to the first round of the playoffs. Would be nice.

Rays tied the series up, so it is on to game 5 which is a win or stay home game for both teams.
