Been working on the butterfly garden. Probably will need some additional milkweed plants as those hungry critters sure eat them down fast!

After 2 Years of very slight Mosquito Action here in SW Miami, it looks like we're in for long battles this 2019.
They're out, lots of them and hungry for one's blood. It's goinn to be a long Season this year. I can tell.

The butterfly garden is starting to get active. Saw three, so there are probably more, caterpillars eating away on the milkweed plants. Hope I have a great crop of Monarch butterfly "births" this year.

The butterfly garden is now producing some caterpillars and some chrysalis have appeared. Hope the Monarch are healthy when they emerge.

We have six Monarch chrysalis that we can see, so there are probably some we have not found yet. There are more caterpillars munching away on the milkweed. Probably will need to buy some more plants in the near future. We think the Monarchs will start emerging sometime this week. Hope they are all healthy.

We have had several healthy Monarch Butterfly births. One did not make it. Have 4 more waiting to pop! Went to buy more Milkweed plants but Home Depot was out of them. Said they had received their plant delivery the day I was there and did not get any. Without more plants, only the current caterpillars that are munching down the last plant will make it. Might try one of the local plant nurseries near my house. However, it is starting to get expensive buying all these plants!

Spent a good hr this nice April AM in the backyard working to clean up/trim the palm trees we have. I will have to continue on Tuesday, because I already filled up the big Garbage Bin with all I was able to cut down. and I can still cut some more too.
Lots of Bees and Butterflies all over in our small but full of action backyard.
Happy Easter to all and Gas Cat of course.

Been watching a caterpillar. It climbed up on a fence in the garden. Stopped almost at the top. Then attached itself. But two days later it has not made its pupa. If it does not make its pupa then I won't get a butterfly emergence. Two stages down and two more to go, but I'm thinking I won't see stage 3.

Watching another caterpillar that is on a plant. It did make its chrysalis overnight, so maybe a new Monarch butterfly will emerge next week. Have received a couple of very nice rainfalls the past couple of days so I won't have to water. Helps the water bill!
