LFL is a Little Free Library. They are small individual boxes built and placed by volunteers in front of homes and in parks and some businesses. They are stocked with books and the idea is that anyone can take one or more books at any time to enjoy and the expectation is that they would bring other books to put back in the box at that same time or anytime in the future. I'm not but I do see a lot of them in our area. Amazing when you think about the fact that we have a big library close by.

We are putting one in our front yard. Have had the bare post installed for WAY too long. Need to finish building and mount the thing.

Here are ones in my area that people have chosen to plot on the "official" map. I think there are actually at least twice as many out there. I don't yet have mine on the map because it isn't installed and functional yet.

Well, I guess that link reverts back to the search field on the map. Anyway, there are about two dozen plotted on the map in the Roseville / Falcon Heights area.

Also it makes a good source of bonfire fuel for the homeless.

There are three of them in my Houston suburb of approximately 35,000 individuals.
Although the suburb to the north and west of me has two population signs. One of them is roughly 20,000 more than the other one. I wonder which one is correct. I suspect the one with the higher figure, as the area keeps growing.

Any LFL Stewards in here? There is one near my grandson’s house.. didn’t know there was a name for it... our our library is more of an Internet cafe... though we can get books from other libraries in district. my wife goes to library in next suburb since it has larger selection of actual books.

Dirt girl, you can always donate them to Books for Africa. I read an article about them a few years ago and since then the idea seems to be really catching on. I see more and more of them around town. Is it a national thing?
