E is for Earmark - ''to designate'' or ''to set aside for a particular purpose''. The origin is from agriculture where for centuries various cuttings, marks, tattoos, and tags were made to the ears of livestock to identify the owner and registered breed stock.

I is for Instilled (like installed, but with some significant meaning to the recipient of the instilling ritual. There is always ritual, and the meaning is transferred by a person holding the title and status of a wise and knowledgeable individual. Although not law, the weight of the instilled must be fairly significant to cause the need for a ritual to occur).

K is for Katherine Johnson (1918-2020) NASA Mathematician, one of the first African-American women to work at NASA. She was responsible for the complex calculations needed to launch and return early NASA missions before the age of computers. The role the "women computers" was chronicled in the movie Hidden Figures. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015. |
