May Day is an ancient Northern Hemisphere spring festival and a traditional spring holiday in many cultures. Dances, bonfires, singing, and parades are usually part of the festivities. International Workers' Day can also be referred to as "May Day", but it is a different from the traditional spring themed May Day, celebrated by socialists, communists and fools. Who knew?

A fog blind B-25 Mitchell bomber, floundering its way southward across Manhattan to Newark Airport, crashes into the 79th floor of the 1,250-foot Empire State Building setting it afire at 9:52 A.M. on July 28, 1945 killing 14 and injuring 26. Betty Oliver fell 70 stories in an elevator car, was injured, yet lived. A 1,000' of cable piled under the elevator car and acts like a spring, allowing the lone passenger to remain alive. Who knew? More of the story
