A meteor exploded over Earth with the force of 10 atomic bombs and everyone missed it. A meteor hit our atmosphere on Dec. 18, 2018, and exploded with a force that was 10 times the energy of the Hiroshima atomic bomb, it wasn't discovered by NASA scientists until after the fact. Who knew?

Louisiana is home to a rare pink dolphin. Pinky was seen in 2007, again in 2015, and in 2018 while mating. Despite the fact that fishermen have apparently seen her swimming with baby dolphins, they're not sure if she's their mother — especially since no news of any pink baby dolphins has surfaced. Who knew?

Many during the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, inc/me as a wee lad, thought the end of the world was just minutes away from tens of thousands of nuclear missiles launched from land based ICBMs, from subs on both sides. Plus bomber air drops. The thought bothered me then, and it still does.

Plus bomber air drops. The thought bothered me then, and it still does. Global thermonuclear war is ever so final. (Am shaking my head.) Not just the massive megaton blasts that annihilate. The radioactive fallout lingers as it circles the globe. About a year, near ground zero. This is minimal compared to other causes: disease, starvation, and exposure, causing incurable cancers. Newborns will be hideously deformed. Odds are they will die unable to produce normal offspring. Humanity will cease to exist. As we know it. God forbid.

Who Knew??? National Cat Day on October 29th is the purrfect day to give extra attention to your feline friends.
Cats make excellent companions. They rarely miss you, but when they do, you sure know it. Awareness days such as this one urge pet lovers to adopt from a local shelter. The day also reminds us that neutering and spaying our furry companions helps reduce the abandoned population.
