National Umbrella Day casts a little shade on February 10th. The day honors one of the world’s most useful inventions, the umbrella!
Not only does the umbrella help keep us dry from the rain, but it also protects us from the heat of the sun. Umbrellas can also be used as a fashion accessory. While the umbrella is primarily practical, they also decorate cocktails. These brightly colored paper umbrellas make for fun party favors especially when visiting sunny locations.

Ray Charles Robinson, shortened his name to Ray Charles to prevent confusion with the great boxer Sugar Ray Robinson. A musical genius and pioneer in blending gospel and the blues, Ray Charles began losing his sight at an early age and was completely blind by the time he was 7, but never relied upon a cane or guide dog. He was one of the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at its inaugural ceremony in 1986. His most famous songs were "I Got a Woman" ,"What'd I Say", Hit the Road Jack" and "Georgia on My Mind." During his lifetime, Charles recorded over 60 albums and performed more than 10,000 concerts. Ray lived September 23, 1930 - June 10, 2004. More than 1,500 people came to say goodbye to the musical legend at his funeral. B.B. King, Willie Nelson, and Stevie Wonder were among those who performed at the service. Who knew?
