Who Knew??? Each year on November 15, millions of people across the United States take part in America Recycles Day. The day raises awareness about recycling and the purchasing of recycled products.
How we recycle and reuse products are important. For example, one-use water bottles flood America’s waterways and landfills at a rate of 60 million per day. Reducing this number can be achieved with water filtration devices and using portable re-usable drinking bottles and cups.

There Are Frogs Smaller Than Your Fingernails. In March 2019, three new species of incredibly itty-bitty frogs were discovered in Madagascar, according to the journal PLOS One. The largest of the frogs was a teensy-weensy 1.4 centimeters in length, while the tiniest is 0.8 centimeters, which is smaller than your fingernail. The frogs are now thought to be among the smallest vertebrates on the planet and have been added to an appropriately named genus that was made up just for them: Mini. Specifically, they've been deemed Mini mum, Mini scule, and Mini ature. Evolutionary biologist Mark Scherz explained, "We searched all the databases we could find, and nobody seemed to have used the [Mini] name before. From there, the puns just fell into place." Who knew?

Who Knew??? National Check Your Wipers Day on November 16th reminds drivers to regularly check their windshield wipers to ensure optimum visibility in the event of inclement weather on the road.
In 2020, AAA reported 50.6 million people traveled by automobile for the Thanksgiving holiday, making it one of the year’s busiest travel weekends. As many Americans plan to hit the road, it’s important to remind them to proactively check their wipers. Visibility is an important factor in driving in poor weather conditions.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, 24% of all accidents are weather-related.
A survey by MICHELIN® Wiper Blades found that 92% of drivers agree that poor wiper blades can affect their driving ability. However, 90% of drivers do not plan the time to check their wipers properly and 55%+ don’t know how to check their wiper blades properly.

Who Knew??? On November 17th, homes will fill with warm, comforting aromas reminding us to slow down and enjoy National Homemade Bread Day. Yeast bread calls for us to slow down. We need to spend time with each other as we work the dough and let it rest and rise before baking. Quick breads allow a special treat to share and enjoy with coffee or tea. Other homemade breads, such as donuts, pretzels, muffins, and biscuits, add variety to our everyday meals. And making them with friends and family brings joy and an opportunity to exchange recipes.
