One would have to believe it will be a better Series than back in 1998 when they got swept. I was at the then MCI Center for game 4 to see Detroit skate the cup.
It is always cool to see a Stanley Cup Final deciding game and Watch the Cup skated in person!

Me too, zippy. Loved seeing the Cup in person, but didn't like the series at all. And there were more Wings fans than Caps fans at the game. Of course, before the Caps even started Game 3 at home, they were down 0-2 and showed absolutely no signs of even competing with Detroit.
One cool moment was the Wings dedicating their Cup to Konstantinov, who had been seriously injured in an auto accident, and was at the game.

Yes chitown, I'll never forget when they wheeled him out on the ice and presented him the cup first.
It just sent chills down my spine.

Major congrats to the 2018 Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals on their first ever title. They've shown a resiliency and killer instinct not found in their previous teams. They've also had more depth with secondary players such as Smith-Pelly and Eller getting key goals to support stars Ovi, Kuznetsov, and Backstrom.
The Great 8's overdue Cup quest is finally over!
Brother, I wish Canadiens was on this forum. He'll have a bunch of "I told you so"'s to tell us.

Yes it is... looks like the Caps didn't want to Pony up the money that he wanted and the fact that they were looking for a reason to fire him during the season it's probably just as well that he's walking away...
Do I hear the Islanders calling?

You heard right. The Isles came up with the cash that Trotz was seeking. By beating the Pens, and obviously winning the Cup saved his job. A two year contract kicked in with the Cup win. But he wanted (and got) paid. don't blame him one bit. The Isles are trying desperately to keep Tavares. This is the first step.
