scoutmaster , I now am running version 5.2.1 21152. I use a Galaxy S6. Today, the worse yet! My phone sent me a notice, (device maintence) "one app, Gas Buddy, is malfunctioning affecting your phones performance, Put to Sleep.

Mudrunner has provided info to beta forum. They indicated .52 fixed crashing with fuel grades but will dig through the crash logs to see what they can find.
Good luck. My issues with instability maintaining location lock seems resolved now.

happycamper, before I gave them your GB user name, they made this comment: "From the sounds of it it's not a real crash but a samsung service thinking the app is misbehaving when it's likely something like trips/drives that is running in the background."
You told me that you have trips turned off as well as google maps, is there something else that could be running in the background?
After I gave them your GB name, they made this comment: "I don't see any crash logs for that user name but there are a few non-fatal logs. I'll add it to our bug list for investigation."
Something else to check: Profile; Settings; Location Usage; Location Privacy; is Share Usage Data with Cuebiq turned off? I think it was added in June and was turned on by default.

Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions and efforts. I have personally typed at least fifty reports in the last two and a half weeks. Each time a pop up thanks me for reporting the problem. I have used this app since the first day it was available and never had a hiccup before now. Mudrunner, nothing running in the background, I do not see the settings you are referring to,"Location Usage; Location Privacy; is Share Usage Data with Cuebiq turned off" Scoutmaster,This is the first time I have ever had any issue with any app ever. As I said in my September. 18th post, even my device is sending me notices that the app is malfunctioning. I do know that I am not going to worry with it any longer.

Happycamper,
The location setting for cubiq is hidden.
Profile icon > Settings > Location Usage > Location Privacy > Share Usage Data with Cuebiq.
Note that labels are plain text and not obvious links.
See if the slider is off. If not, turn off and see if helps.
Sorry you are going through this disruption.
I had a number of days when Gasbuddy couldn't hold location. All other apps were find. It now is working faster and holding location.

Mudrunner1976 (NE_Ohio) (NE_Ohio) and beta GB, I did find it. I turned it off. App still stopped.....we have all budgeted way too much time to this already.

Happycamper, have you received/tried the latest release? 5.2.1 21158?
They indicated that it contained a fix that was only affecting about 30 users. Maybe you were one of the 30 and since it was so few members it took a long time to track down the issue.

BETA-Gasbuddy, I opened the app for the first time since September 20th. I did not have the latest update. Why gas buddy doesn't update automatically I don't know... I went to the play store and clicked update. I now have v21158. I used it to report my morning gas prices. It worked flawlessly! Thanks for the heads up! 😁

Excellent news!
Mudrunner was helping get them to pay attention. I guess it took a while because of very specific preconditions to reproduce the problem. Apparently you were in a small group with the issue.

Guess as of the new update on January 29, I am no longer able to use my mobile device to report the local prices for my small town. Absolutely do not understand why the GB powers that be want to eliminate or dwindle the ones that want to contribute and want to have accurate prices reported. I am beyond unhappy! Been a GB member since May 2005. Since I did not discover that this was the case until Friday pm and the weekend, no way to address it with them. Thanks for this forum.
