Fantastic news, folks: Shell is now off the "Verified" program, meaning we can once again edit Shell stations ourselves.
(But boy, do I have a lot of catching up to do!)

gashole - The Shell/Circle K switch in your area sounds like something that might happen in NC - especially in the Charlotte area, where so many Shell/Circle K stations now sit across the street from one another. I guess I'll need to keep my eyes peeled for that one.

Well, I'm finally starting to dig out my old notes on those Shells from the last six months or so and make those updates. I suppose being a few months out-of-date will be better than being years out-of-date - but it's still not going to happen all at once. I hope their recent announcement of a new ad program doesn't mean that even more stations will be locked than before; but in the meantime, I'm striking while the iron is hot.
Interestingly enough, gashole, I've had to explain what I was doing a few times when I was, for instance, taking pictures (back when the old app was just the app), and only once was I asked to delete them. On the flip side, I had one manager say she loved GasBuddy because it makes it easy for her to fill out her competing price reports (a requirement in her chain) when she doesn't have time to go look for the information herself.

Back when the Master Station List was new, I was at a Shell station taking notes for the Master Station List. Unbeknownst to me, the attendant called the cops, who showed up promptly and asked me to leave. On another occasion I was chased by an employee of a gas station whose price sign I was taking a photo of. This station routinely had prices about a dollar higher than other nearby stations, so I suppose it's not surprising that they wouldn't want their prices publicized. A few years later a local newspaper columnist wrote about the station's high prices, which generally changed only about once a year. (About a year ago they lowered their prices to more competitive levels, but they still almost never change the prices.)

I finally got my Shell notes caught up from when they were on the Verified program - and now Murphy USA/Murphy Express has gone on it! The real kicker is that someone added the cash/credit feature to a familiar station right before, and now I can't undo it without submitting a help ticket. Sometimes the uninformed tend to add that in when, in fact, the discount comes from using a chain's loyalty card, cash card or gift card. (In the case of Murphy Express/Murphy USA, it's Sam's and Walmart gift cards) - not a true discount for actual green cash.
Here we go again...

Actually I think that Murphy Express isn't on the program, though Murphy USA is. If that's true, then maybe the problem is only half as bad as I thought.

The forum software, apparently, won't let a page exist with a single message. Either that, or it's a bug. Posting this message as a placeholder. I kept seeing a reference to Page 8, but could not get to it.
There is one Murphy Express in my area is showing it is part of the Verified program. However, as i mention to MadFueler in a PM, there is one Murphy USA that is not. As he said I am not going to tell bring it to there attention

Did anyone know that there's a limit on the number of MSL views? I'm estimating it's about 120 views. One can e-mail to have it increased, but I'm dubious how successful that'd be.
Learn something new every day. Not sure I know what you mean by MSL Views.

Not sure I know what you mean by MSL Views. Simply, if you go to a http://www.{location}gasprices.com/AddMasterStation.aspx?SM_ID={station} address, you can only do that a limited number of times per day. In fact, once the limit is reached, you can't even go to http://www.{location}gasprices.com/StationMasterList_nv.aspx, without getting the "limit exceeded" message.Oh, so do not think I have done that many before. MadFueler may have done that many last week when he was going through his Shell updates.

I did a lot of Shell updates the past couple of weeks (and others) but don't think I hit that many per day. I heard a few years ago that the number was more like 1,000 but now that I think about it I could see the logic in lowering it. I only hit the limit once or twice opening stations to see whether their cities are in or out of metro areas as part of a pet mapping project of mine that I return to occasionally; however, I've never done an actual count, nor have I done a lot of this sort of thing lately.

I had a station close a few months ago for a total tear-down and rebuild. Several buddys continued to post prices, so I marked the station "temporarily closed" via the MSL. This of course is done with a drop-down box for various station statuses. The station re-opened, but I was not able to change it back to open with the drop-down box; it was like "temporarily closed" was the only valid value for the box.
I was able to get around it by opening the history of changes and reverting to the last version that had a status of open. There were also several versions after my closing that had no changes. Maybe they were trying to mark open, but unable to like I was, and hit save anyway???

I've had same problem with station ID "17489" - I had temp.closed it, and now trying to re-activate it. "GasBuddyVerified" had several versions tacked on that labelled the station as NO-GAS and even removed the presence of REGULAR-MID-PREMIUM-DIESEL ! I was able to revert to a previous version. When I try to activate, I get something about "unDelete: this station has been marked for deletion. Please give a reason why this station should be undeleted:" (or something like that). I'm waiting until I actually go INTO the c-store before I make a SERIOUS effort to re-activate it - right now, I just see prices on the sign out front and the carwash under renovation (even tho' the station LOOKS open).

Even though it now shows open in the app, it shows "No diesel"/"...out of fuel or power...." and it won't turn back on based on my submission; just says "Thanks! Your suggestions have been sent for review". I thought power/fuel outage updates were supposed to be almost real time. I don't see any way to update via the MSL.

Perhaps it won't clear until a 2nd user reports it. I had done it several times over a 2 day period.
I actually think there are at least 2 databases for price reports. I have a station that if there is a large price swing, often only the regular is initially updated (mid and premium are not posted at the street). After I fix the mid and premium, even if I am at the pumps, the next poster puts them back to the old prices. If I fix them from home via the web, they will "stick".
I suspect that app database posts will copy to the web database only if the app posts pass the GB reasonableness test, but the web database posts always update the app database. If true, that is totally bass ackwards to me. Or maybe every user has their own mini database that only they can see and only posts that pass the GB reasonableness test copy to the main database that all can see.
