Here's another poll. What GPS do you use?

I am a big fan of stand alone devices, for this reason (and a host of others) I don't carry a smart phone, just an old flip phone(Lg Vx4400).
On my dash is a Megellan Roadmate 360, it has a fantastic/simple button interface (non touch screen for the most part). even thought i bought this way back in 2005 there are not a lot of new roads around here so it's information is still very valid.

Have been using a Garmin which sometimes locks up. Although really liked it for the Use less fuel mode. Had been using for some time since it has lifetime updates. It was at the point of wanting a backup camera. Considered getting a Harman back-up version until getting a Hyundai Ioniq. Wife has a Hyundai Tucson with built-in GPS, which I hate since it always wants to use Tollway and cannot get it to avoid Tollways. Not as user friendly as my Garmin. Did not get Ioniq with GPS. I bought reconditioned unit with all the newest features. Does not have my favorite mode but I can work around it. In order to use online banking had to upgrade my phone. It has Google maps and sometimes both phone and gps so I know about road delays etc. Need to take a break so may continue later.

the 2010 Prius I drive had a gps from factory. I updated it last year with latest maps (dvd) and is very accurate with new roads and additions made around me.
I have an older gps that I will occasionally give to people that use my 2009 Corolla. It works (still).
One advantage to not using cell is I was in some remote areas and phone map didn't work (no cell service). GPS worked fine.

But why would you need it for an area that you live where there aren't a lot of roads to begin with? lol... I only use GPS when I go to places I'm unfamiliar with. Depending on which vehicle I'm driving, I'll use either the built-in GPS in my vehicle or access my smartphone's capabilities when I need to verify traffic.

I have navigation in my Honda Accord that I use occasionally but I do a lot of driving at work in company vehicles that do not have navigation, I have a Garmin that I use for that.

Iphone for me. Never in the past invested in a GPS Gizmo, I was always good with my internal compass and regular old maps.
In this day and age, my Honda has the capalility of the Auto Play and it's JUST fabulous..Google Maps and WAZE are Great...Before Auto Play I could never like WAZE, now at least I have it as a back up !!

Since we bring out RV camper to places with no cell phone service, we just use a Garmin with lifetime map updates. My Tundra has a nav system but they want something like $700 to update the maps every few years and I don't like how it operates.

On the way here from Miami ( Indian Rocks Bch) 265.00 mls, Waze Maps worked great specially in Areas of BAD Traffic, warnings ahead of time everytime and warnings about Fla State Troopers sightings out there on I-75.

On the last 600 mls trip we did almost 2 weeks ago, SW Miami to Indian Rocks Beach, the WAZE on the Car Play came to the rescue more than once..2 Bad Jams on the roads and we were able to avoid them in time.

I have three garmins, all purchased second hand, they seem stable and don't crash. That is not to say some "follow gps blindly" person won't crash...
I've already spotted a few errors due to the aging maps. New highway construction really got it wrong.
Two of the garmins have no way of transmitting ones location to big brother, and the third one transmits only to GMRS only when asked. Can't say the same for most cell phones.

I have invested my money NOT in GPS Devices, because my I Phone takes care of that, I have bought, with time, and own 4 Fire Sticks TV's that have let me cut the cord with U Verse TV, and to never see a Cable/Ph Bill EVER Again !!!
Free and Happy
