I just don't have the endurance for long road trips like I did when I was younger. I have to stop more often for breaks, so it takes me more time to travel a given distance than it used to. So it has to be something really special, like viewing a total solar eclipse, before I will consider even a one day road trip.

Honestly, I have a few more road trips in me, but the 2011 and 2013 multi-week adventures are history. I've adapted my driving style to physical changes (more stops), and less miles covered in a day. Regardless of the conditions, stamina is the key. I relied on nicotine and sugar to get me from point A to point B, and back (for decades). * Since we stopped consuming nicotine, through tobacco, the driving seems lees exciting, and boredom eating has emerged. I'm no health enthusiast. The fare offered on the road is both inviting and terrifying at the same time. * I'm not occupying a young body, and the thought of a long road trip isn't that appealing. But it's Winter, and the conditions that didn't bother me 30 or 40 years ago, concern me more now. * I was able to drive to another state in November to see a dear relative, before she passed away in December. I am very grateful that the conditions allowed it. It wasn't a pleasure trip, and the driving was tedious and uncomfortable at times. * In conclusion, I want to be able to pop onto the road and go. The reality is I'm slowing down, and the road trips are becoming less frequent. * Regards.

We went back roads N towards The Suncoast, but we got stuck N of Inmokalee, where the 2 lane roads out to Ft Myers are getting widened, then stuck again (Slow moving for about 45 minutes on I-75 in the Sarasota Area)
Coming back, we left Indian Rocks Beach at 4:45AM thru the Gulf Beaches then across the Skyway Bridge and I-75 South. We ran into trouble arround 7AM Outside of Estero..WAZE got us out of the MESS, but others also got off the Interstate..and we got delayed easily another 50 minutes.
So...Crazy Trip wether back roads/ Interstate or Combo...Goinn to have to go to Seminole County next Month and drive again. I hope we fare better with dammed traffic.

If I have the time and money, I want to return to the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming, the Lake Superior shoreline, the Gulf coast of Florida, and the Rockies of Colorado.

Retired both of Us, Mother in Law under Paliative Care here at home with us restrain all our travelling plans, but that's Family and you take it day by day, If we had left her in a nursing home 6 yrs ago when her health problems arose, she'd be gone by now..A waste, because she's a bright woman full of life and her brain is even today in the right place, just a bad/weak heart. Soon we will be rewarded with our travelling plans one of these days.
