Harris County Medical Examiner agreed. But, so far, they haven't filed any additional charges. So far, only tampering with a corpse. Harris County District Attorney is busier than a one-armed paper hanger. These things seem to take forever. Not like on TV where they have a the crime solved and a suspect in jail in an hour.

Harris County District Attorney has been before the county commissioners twice requesting that they get more help. So far, they've been turned down. And the Legislature didn't help by passing their low-THC hemp bill. Now, if you're arrested for marijuana possession in Harris County, they're taking the position that it might be legal low-THC hemp.

Been following the story of a young lady that took a half gallon of ice cream, pulled off the top, licked it, and put it back in the freezer. Video captured on social media. They figured out that it happened at a Walmart in Lufkin in Texas. They were talking about felony tampering with a consumer product, but now that they discovered she's a juvenile from San Antonio she may go scot-free. San Antonio's District Attorney needs to grow a pair and throw the book at her.

The case will most likely be tried in Lufkin, a smaller community with a smaller staff for the DA.

One time, I was at my pdoc after they had a case in the news where the family said, "They're mentally ill but they're off their meds!"
I can understand being off your meds to a point, but I'd rather have the side effects than go untreated. Although I think I'm in the minority. Went to either a DBSA or a NAMI meeting (they're both self-help organizations), and I think I was the only one who had something good to say about Haldol (a medication most frequently used to control episodes of out-of-control mental status). At least I felt like I could somewhat function after getting the shot.
I said, "Why can't all the crazy people be like me and find the unmedicated state highly disagreeable?"

My housemate and I were discussing marijuana, and he said "The Government makes money off of alcohol and tobacco, which are probably worse!"
And I said, "Well, the Government tried outlawing alcohol once."
He asked me, "When did they do that?"
I told him all about Prohibition, which he apparently hadn't covered when he went to school. I said it was roughly a hundred years ago.
He asked me what happened.
I told him crime shot up bigtime, a lot of people still wanted to drink, and it got so bad that even the alcohol-unfriendly state of Utah voted to discontinue the ban.
That said, you have the Federal Government position that marijuana has no medical use. Then somebody explain to me why Epidiolex and Marinol exist. Guess they're fine with individual cannabinoids but not the whole plant. And somebody explain US Patent 6630507 to me.

It's quite clear that marijuana does not belong on Schedule I. It has multiple accepted medical uses. Congress needs to stop toking and at least try to do something right.

Guess prohibition was not on the test that he had to take to graduate. I covered it as a History teacher when I taight, but I have been retired for 17 years & I know things have changed. Had a case on the north side of Houston where a psychiatric patient got into an ambulance with the keys in the ignition. He went on a joyride to KFC and then to a C-Store to buy cigarettes. Typical psychiatric patient, craving food and smokes!

Saw video this evening of a mentally ill individual who entered a police station carrying a large knife. They were able to prevent any injuries to police by using a Taser on him. This was in Brooklyn. He was suicidal, but it didn't turn out to be a case of suicide by cop.

Saoirse Kennedy Hill, the 22-year-old granddaughter of assassinated politician Robert Kennedy, recently died of a suspected overdose (they won't know for sure until they get the toxicology reports back). She had a history of depression since middle school and a past suicide attempt when she was in high school. She had written about her struggles in her private school's newspaper. More woe for the Kennedy family, they've had more than their share.

Once again the US is wondering what the hell happened. In one week over 30 killed by someone who has mental health issues. Yet who may have known ahead of time and did nothing? Where are our political and religious leaders talking about mental health. "Thoughts and prayers," name calling and placing blame on the other political party, words without action, and racism is all we hear. Thanks for allowing me to rant.

The Dayton shooter was suspended from school for keeping a "hit list" and "rape list" during his school days. Sounds like they needed to do more than suspend him. There were definite sociopathological tendencies that were known here. And one of the victims was reported to be his own sister.
