I donate large Appliances and or Large Furniture to The Salvation Army and or to Habitat for Humanity, they pick up from your home.
Clothes, and smaller electronics to GOODWILL, I have a Store for them 1 mile from home.
Got a folding table in my car now, will drop it off in a few more minute !!

The weirdo at the Main Goodwill told me they could not accept the table, because the top plastic liner had a 1/2 inch tear in it. I told him you employ people to bring some of the DONATIONS up to PAR, this one gets fixed in 2 minutes, he still refused. So with a smile in my face I left and 1/2 a ml down the road I stoped at a Trailer for GOODWILL, where the Lady there took it graciously and very happy for my donation. It takes all kinds in this world of ours. Some want to show unexistent power in their positions, others just would love to hug you for your Gift.

Someone dropped of a bycycle a few days back in some bushes in the middle of our Circle, and took it a few minutes ago for a Spin, runs good but too small for me, I wife can't use I will take it to Gooodwill too.
No one else in the Circle is interested in it.

Main problem with Goodwill is that they can't afford people who have the skills to repair things. They can only put a price sticker on it and move what you donate to the main floor to sell.
Then when they still can't sell it, it gets dumped into an outlet store for a last ditch effort for sale. A lot of broken stuff end up there, after them spending a lot of money trucking it around.
At least they don't have to spend money to stick it into a landfill.
So be careful what you donate. You might be costing Goodwill as they eventually have to dispose of your garbage instead.

Donating to a place that resells the items is not recycling, it is reuse, which is actually a higher priority than recycle. Recycle is when they take the items' components apart and make something totally different from it, such as toys from plastic milk jugs. I have bought these for relatives' young children and they are very nice.
You can help increase the market for recycling by buying goods made from recycled materials.
Reduce, reuse, recycle!

I noticed a couple of months back that there was a family at the beginning of our Circle with a couple of young Kids I offered the Bike to their Grandpa, owner of the house and he took it graciously, the kids came by to thank us and we see them on the bike every so often. Great use for something we found abandonned.
