I recently took a nice trip to New York, it was my first time back since 1996 and I had a very nice time. My mother takes these bus tours to different places, everything is usually included, lodging, some meals and all the events/attractions. She invited me on a tour trip to NYC, my first time ever on a bus tour like that. Usually her and her husband go but he did not want to go to NYC so I was the lucky guest.
While I was in NY we saw many of the main attractions that most tourists probably see: the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Grand Central, Times square, Central Park, the Empire State Building, St. Patrick's Cathedral. We got a tour boat that went around Manhattan at night and went out around Liberty Island before returning to the dock.
It's a nice way to travel, everything is all set up and you don't have to worry about driving or flying and getting to the hotel or any of that, you just get on the bus each morning. The only thing is that you might not get as much time as you want at some attractions. I personally could have spent a lot more time in Central Park and more time at the 9/11 Memorial than was allotted but overall I enjoyed it and it gave me ideas of what I would like to see if I return on my own to see things at my own pace.

Cool. My Favorite thing to do while in NYC is to take the Staten Island Ferry back and forth from Battery Park. I worked One Block from there in my Youth.
The 2nd one is go 4 hrs NW to the countryside where my brother from Queens has a Camper in a Gorgeous Campground AWAY from the Hustle and Bustle of NYC.

Yes, while I was on the tour boat ride around Manhattan Island, the guide pointed out the Staten Island Ferry terminal and said that the ferry is free. If I get around to going back on my own that is one thing I would like to do. Maybe rent a bike, take the ferry out to Staten Island and ride around. They also have a neat sculpture in the Hudson Yards development called The Vessel. That is something I really want to go into. Would be nice to see the Bronx Zoo also and eat at more different restaurants. My Aunt worked for the airlines for her whole career, based in NYC and she had a apartment near Bay Terrace in Queens. When I was a kid I'd go spend summers there, we'd go to Coney Island, Jones Beach, Action Park in NJ, I'd been up in the WTC and Empire State Bldg, pretty much everything there was to do.

I lived in the City, Brooklyn (Greenpoint) Then Queens (Forest Hills) between 1966 and 1973, When I moved to Fla and I have been in the Sunshine Land ever since.
I go back once in a while and really far Apart. We love (Wife and I) to go up to the Canadian Side of Niagara Falls, we always fly to Buffalo, cheaper and closer to drive from there on a rental.
My wife's first Job a year or so before leaving there was at Tower #1 of the World Trade Center, #2 was a construction in progress.
She was up on the 53rd Floor, when 9-11 happened she was in shock thinking about all the people that died there !!!
Well till next time. Have a great one.

For me just walking onto the outdoor plaza part and seeing where the old towers stood, all the names, was very sad. Inside the museum, which is in what was the basement of the old site, there are sights and sounds there that bring you back to that day. I've never been to Niagara Falls, I think my best recollection of it is from the old Superman movie.

The Falls area on the Canadian Side is Gorgeous...Truly nice...Try to go there some time, The Ice Wine Vineyards north of Niagara Falls into The Town of ~Niagara on The Lake~ are great..Just one enjoyable adventure and our money goes a longer way there too.
Toronto is like 90 minutes away by car and a great City to visit.
Greetings

We have a Niece that lives between Genoa and Milan and tomorrow nite they will be together again for a few short days. Wow...I love World travelling, and to places where you have family and Americans are welcomed !I will see about posting some of her pics as they become available...A 2 days visit to the ~cinque terre cities~ is on the schedule, that will be unforgetable ...

Well, all went fantastic for her, shes back from her Vacation and already home in Winter Springs, Fl for her Monday back to Work.
We unfortunately are basically with our hands tied because wife's Mother, 94 yrs old lives with Us, we have NO family in Miami and she is not bed ridden but under Paliative Care at home.
Thus any plans for long trips, a week or so are totally off for Us for the time being, last time out for a week was 3 yrs ago and that was To NYC last trip to Canada was 4 or 5 yrs ago already.
We just enjoy ourselves for now with short outings locally, time only will tell.
Happy Weekend !!

He says the view is much better from the Canada side. I'd have a issue with trying to enter Canada, I doubt I could go in and travel around the country, I have read they are pretty stringent and have even pulled people off tour buses because of petty court issues a person has had in the past. I had a issue back when I was 19, over 25 years ago but it would still show up if they checked my ID at the border. Maybe I'd be able to walk across the International Bridge, not sure if they check pedestrians or just people traveling in cars.
