Had my last vein ablation procedure two days ago. The bandage came off this afternoon. My leg looks like it's been bathed in povidone. Also have a return of a right foot ulcer. Cardiologist is going to do an ultrasound Real Soon Now. I'm on my second week of Eliquis (Dr. Ben has me scheduled for a 44-day course of Eliquis) and tomorrow morning I'm going to pick up some antibiotics for the foot ulcer. Raining this afternoon, didn't feel like getting out.

Had my second Moderna shot April 26, tripped & fell on my bad right knee & shin coming into the house. Still in pain from that. Glad I'm not donating any time soon. Still deferred to April 20th. Have not set up an appointment yet for July.

In two weeks, it will be a year since I was last able to donate. Congestive heart failure sucks, you walk a few hundred feet you're gasping for air.

You definitely have my sympathies there Sneakers. I've had bronchial asthma since I was a kid, and being obese compounds it for me. My wife had bilateral PE and blood clots in her heart in 2014. By the grace of God she made it out of the ER alive. She still gets winded and is on blood thinners for life now. I'm still deferred by NYBC until the 20th because of accumulated plasma loss, but I still haven't fully healed since my fall at home on April 26th and for the last 2 weeks fighting excruciating gout in my right foot with ankle & toe pains. Messed up my right knee worse than it was before and still have abrasion scars (diabetes slows my healing). I probably won't be donating for a while still even after my eligibility is restored. I'll have to tell NYBC it their turn to cool their heels and wait.

Feel like I could use a pint but all they give me is IV antibiotics. I’m in the hospital with no estimated discharge date. Have cellulitis of the right lower leg.

I've been recovering from a nasty gout flare up in my right foot. It's taken almost 2 weeks but I'm close to recovery. Doctor changed my meds and gave me a different diuretic to treat the edema in my feet.
My deferral by NYBC due to plasma loss ended on Sunday and they started nagging me on Monday with phone calls, text messages and emails to donate platelets again. Current incentive is a box of Girl Scout cookies if you give by the 27th. Nah, they can sit on their hands and wait. They stuck me on a shelf for 4 months with some BS numbers on plasma loss across 46 units or so of platelets donated when Vitalant didn't do the same for 60+ units in a 12 month cycle. Now NYBC can wait until I'm good and ready to give. I'm not hobbling to a donor center until I've been completely healed & rested from this gout in my right foot and my fall after the second COVID shot in April, and my right knee still hurts.

Getting almost daily nagging from NYBC since I became eligible again on the 20th. Latest promotions for platelets donors were a box of GS Cookies, now the choice is either a bottle opener or face mask. Not giving them anything until I feel good and ready to give. Still have some lingering gout tingling/burning in my right big toe & ball of the foot. Figure they put me on the shelf for 4 months for their BS numbers on plasma loss, they can wait now until I feel 100% free of the uric acid issues.
I still have a few more days of colchicine to take and hopefully I'll be good to decide to give again in July or after.

Got a reminder from Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center that it has been thirteen months since I last donated. My outstanding donor points will expire in two more months. Fortunately, I only have five donor points (not enough to get anything, so it won't be much of a loss).

New York Blood Center has a similar expiry plan but they will hold points if you have a medical deferral reason for not deferring and advise them. I think Vitalant is no longer expiring and I haven't donated with them in over a year. My gout has flared up again which cause me to cancel the morning of Saturday 2 weeks ago.

Saturday I made another triple platelet donation, my first donation since the end of February. Got two scratch-off lottery tickets there - neither a winner - and a $30 eGift card in email that I redeemed for an Amazon card.
Vitalant nuked my remainder of donor points in their account as I had not made a donation to them in over a year. Pretty slimy as I recall their page saying points don't expire.

I was planning to go this saturday to donate again as it will be 2 weeks since my last platelets donation, then I remembered we have a vet appointment for Pixe, for her annual physical and shots. So I guess I'll make one for the following Saturday.

Saw on Facebook last night that starting today NYBC is requiring all donors, including vaccinated ones, wear masks again. They had relaxed the rules and allowed vaxxed donors to be unmasked but here we go again.
