BP has come up with a new offer of matching prices through its BPme app (for registered users) using GasBuddy data. The main details are that, for a 99 cent per month subscription fee, it'll look for prices posted at nearby stations of certain brands (starting with a half-mile radius and, failing that, searching up to two miles away) and matching a lower price if it finds one. (You also much purchase a minimum of eight gallons.) The discount is applied not the the current purchase, but the next one. This'll make current, accurate prices crucial, at least for users of that app. Also, I wonder if other chains will start following BP in offering this on their apps.
(The other brands it will search are Exxon, Mobil, Shell, Chevron, and Marathon.)
