Has anyone else noticed in their area that a lot of users don't know how to properly report the power or gas supply status of a station?
All around my area, stations are listed as without power...even though power is not the issue...Gas Supply is.
I think GB needs to go back to the drawing board on this one and see if they can take out the power portion of reporting.
Granted, this particular situation on the East Coast, with the hack of the Colonial Pipeline, is unique and different than a hurricane (where power could be an issue)...it does point that users don't know how to properly report the status of gas stations.
I'm noticing most of this reporting is by "visitors" and not actual logged in Gas Buddy users.

I don't use that feature of the app -- fortunately, there's no need for it here at this time.
I did hear from someone who was vacationing in the Carolinas recently that they used the GB App to find stations with fuel. I asked if they found it to be reliable and the response was, "Remarkably so."
It's an anecdotal report but maybe the thing works better than some of us think it does. We may be so focussed on the flaws that we're not seeing the overall big picture.

I just noticed the comments about the Fuel Availability.
My wife and I were in Nashville, TN on the 15th & 16th. I did use the app to confirm that some stations there were out of fuel. It also promptly recorded the ones that I verified were back to providing fuel again. Thankfully, we had no problems getting fuel, prices were anywhere from $2.75 - $3.19 a gallon in the area.
It did look kind of eerie to see a station busy with customers, but the station across the street sitting open and deserted at their pumps.

Well, the Colonial pipeline hack fiasco is over for now...but yet the app is still showing the tools to report stations without gas, power, and diesel.
There are NO stations in my travel without gas, power, or diesel in over a week...but yet dumb azzes (yea, I call em' like I see em') are reporting through the app that there are stations without gas, power, and diesel in my area...WTF!
Again, I think GB needs to go back to the drawing board on the power, gas, diesel reporting front... It was an ideal thing to do in response to gas shortages during hurricanes...but they need to think outside the box on other fuel disruptions besides hurricanes and be ready to implement those contingencies in the app when appropriate.
Reminds me of a saying, Those to fail to plan for a contingency, plan to fail in a crisis.
