This as been one crazy year so far. Hayward going down first 5 minutes of the first game. Then after losing the first two win 16 in a row. Kyrie having a great season then pfft out for 3-6 weeks. Injuries to Smart and Theis. And yet they keep fighting and scratching out tough wins against good teams. And still just a couple games out of first seed in the East. Go Celts

Agreed, it's been quite an interesting building year. They almost looked good enough winning 16 straight even after losing Hayward in Game One.
But the other night with Brown making a three at the buzzer with FIVE key players out was about as impressive as anything. No Hayward, no Kyrie, no Horford...the "big three" all out, and Smart, and Theis. Amazing. At this point I expect the Bruins may go further than the Celtics this year, but I think the Celtics are going to be a force to be reckoned with next season. It'll be especially interesting to see where Lebron James ends up.

Yeah I'm not expecting too much right now with all the injuries. If they were to get out of the first round and get Kyrie and Smart back and Morris is healthier they will still not be strong as they should be. Those guys will all be rusty or still not 100%.
But man with another year of experience for Brown and Tatum having started every game this year added to a healthy Hayward and even Theis having almost a full season of experience. He's a solid depth guy. Next year could be a breakout years for this team.

Nor am I each game, but then they still go out and win, and convincingly. Should they be beating Toronto like that? With five guys out? Ummm, IDK anymore. But they did it.

They did and looked pretty good down the stretch to pull away. Crazy. Both them and the bruins are losing key players and still keep beating good teams. It's insane.

I agree. At first I thought the Celtics were going to be a good bet to go to the Championship, but I was ready to write them off. The Bruins on the other hand, after the trade they made it looks like they are going for it this year. The Celtics I believe may still be a better bet to at least represent the East next year, as I still bet James is going West somewhere next year which opens up a golden opportunity for Boston to get there. I'm not sure James is going to lose against the Celtics, and I guess it may also depend on health of the Celtics. Kyrie may or may not be back for the first round. But at least for the regular season to finish with more wins than last year even if they finish only a 2 seed is a pretty good year considering all the injuries.

Well next game should be interesting. No Smart. No Irving. No Larkins. No Rozier. Not clear who is going to be bringing up the ball. Horford may be point guard. Brown? Tatum? Crazy...

No more Irving sure is a kick in the balls. It was starting to look less promising anyway with the other injuries and losses adding up but that puts the dagger in the thought of progressing out of the East for sure. With a healthy Irving, Smart and even Theis there was reasonable hope even without Hayward. It's just too early to be looking toward next year.
But having said that. With a healthy Irving and Hayward along with more experienced Brown, Tatum and Theis (he is a rookie despite playing overseas) and a year of playing together (only 4 players had played together prior to this year) the future looks pretty bright to me.

Future is bright for sure, but when I see all the guys logging big minutes last night with no Irving, Smart, Theis and Heyward, and resting Morris too, and for them to LOSE to Atlanta, who is surely not a playoff team, all I can say, it Wait 'Til next year! Do you see the Celtics winning a first round series? And if they do, and it potentially comes down to Cleveland, Toronto, Boston and Philly (the top four teams not in any particular order) is anyone confident the Celtics can beat any of those teams in a 7 game series? I'm not so sure they even get out of the first round. Washington? Milwaukee? It'll be interesting, certainly. I do expect Kyrie is going to be fully healthy next year based on everything they are saying about his knee. I'm very optimistic for next year, especially with another good pick coming up. More confident than with the Bruins next year.

Yeah I'm with you Smitty. I don't even see them winning the first round. Hey I'll be very happy to be wrong on that but to hear some of the talk on TV you'd think they were a shoo in for getting to the 2nd round. I really think they'll have a really tough time winning in the playoffs. Just too many key guys out.
Having said that I'm really excited about the future. Kyrie AND Hayward healthy? Along with Tatum making the 2nd year jump and Brown on a 3rd year. That combo should be much better next year too. And don't forget almost the entire team was new this year. Playing together this year will be a major step forward over this year.

Sorry to say but last nights game is likely how any first round series is going to be. Play hard, compete, keep it close and lose down the stretch because they just don't have enough guys who can consistently get their shots to go in.

Well, they played hard competed and WON down the stretch, despite a couple of shaky non-calls on Giannis and the miracle 38 footer at the buzzer to send the game to OT.

They looked a lot better last night. Important not to come home tied 2-2.

Game 7 will be interesting. Bucks are giving the C's all they can handle.

Celts put a beatdown on LeBron & company in Game 1. Hope this continues. I'm so tired of this constant "LeBron is the greatest" narrative. Go Celtics!
