MadFueler here, learning my way around slowly but surely. Just uploaded my old avatar from "the other place" too. Glad to see so many folks here from there, and looking forward to more chats.
Originally from Louisville, KY then moved to Brandenburg, about 10 miles west of Fort Knox. Got my Bachelor of Music Ed from Murray State in Murray, KY then spent a few years in Army bands in Germany and SC (met my wife in SC). After I got out I got my Master's at USC then tried to teach for a year, but found out I wasn't any good at the "crowd control" aspect of it. Moved up to Winston-Salem because my wife's work made her a nice offer to go there, and my "career" has been all about recovery rather than advancement since. Got associates degrees in computer programming (couldn't get a job in that field since I finished that in '01 when experienced programmers were also out on the street looking) and accounting. Doing accounts payable now and hoping to advance into general accounting - but I'll have to see. I've had a lot of ups and downs, but it certainly hasn't been boring.
Joined "the other place" on 9/2/12, went active late November that year, and have been doing something every day there for exactly five years tomorrow.

MadFueler, were you in Brandenburg when the tornado came through? I think that was in the early 70's.

Hello MaddogUSMC I was CactusBobs on the other site only because i could not have cactusbob it was taken. I am a retired lifetime Auto mechanic . after retirement i continued my part time career repairing of HVAC equipment for both small commercial and residential . I am always willing to do my best to answer any questions sent my way. I don't watch much Tv or go to movies . not much of an idle chit chatter . when not working or taking a break i am on line doing my best to help people on at least a dozen web sites. i also am an old Ham radio guy (KE7YIJ) and will do my best with electronic questions also.
Hope we do well here , thanks Cactus

Hello - I'm Craig from SE Minnesota. I was CStarVan on the Minnesota Gas Prices site. I was a regular in the Games forum and saw a link to this site provided by pa1929 and beamed over here. Good to be in it at the start - looks like this really take off!

For those of you that I invited, great to see you all here! It will take some time to get used to compared to the no frills, crappy coded forum we left, but once you get used to the powerful software here, you will like it much better! I sure like being able to "like" things! I would be over on the facebook and then go to thesitethatshallnotbenamed and read a post and stand right up in my shoes and shout HOORAY and want to "like" it and... then I would hear the "game over" sounder from The Price Is Right in my head.

I was a once regular on the Omaha GB, kinda lost interest when the Powers That Be shifted their emphasis from helping us with gas prices to matching eyeballs to paid ads. I see a number of familiar names here. I'll try to be more regular. Never met you over on the other site, but welcome! I totally agree with you. The only reason I stayed active was the forums. Now that they are being deleted, I'm planning on leaving their site altogether!

Hi all. Checking in quickly before getting on with the day. Some of you may recognize me from your whiteboards, even though I generally stayed quiet on the forums. My grass patch is in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago. Looking forward to reconnecting with peeps here. Lyle Great to see you buddy! You still have time to fill up whiteboards but unfortunately, that's going away too.

I was docputer in that other, lower case, lower class place. HERE, I is Docputer.....and this was a CAPITAL idea.....thankee for the invite! In case you know nothing about me, I'm 83 and have already....although unofficially....died either five or six times (EMTs lost count) a couple of years ago, but was "resuscitated" by cracking three ribs, my sternum, and one vertebra and then spent a few weeks in ICU and hospital and Rehab. My advice: Wear a T-shirt with a BIG "DNR!" on the front AND back. I garontee you it's tougher to be brought back than it is to go right on to the next adventure. Okay, enough feeling sorry for myself --- help me pray for the gal I've shacked up with for over sixty years now. We got her home yesterday and have hospice care for her. They say she has a chance, but probably not a big one. Personally, I don't believe that *, and I'm going to do my best to make her outlive ME! Yeah, I know I'm selfish...but I've been a spoiled brat for too many years to change now. Incidentally, I love all of you that I know, and I'd love to get to know more of you. God bless us every one! Great to see you buddy! I'm still praying for you and Winnie!

Thank you for creating this space for this reject! Thanks to all who directed me here! Laceylady is my cat's name. Mr. Baily is my Schnauzer's name. I live in a small town with the only wi-fi at the local Dairy Queen. Our location also prevents cell service. Each morning Baily and I hopped in the car to go visit all the local gas stations. We write down the needed information and head home to report. He is not going to understand why our routine has changed. I'm sorry to hear that. But hey, you are here now! It's nice to meet you! What a beautiful cat!

I started studying for it but never got around to doing anything about it. I do electronics also!
