Looks like the redesign Nissan Altima will offer AWD as an option on the 2.5 engine and offer a turbo 2.0. No more V6 option, only transmission offered is the CVT. 2019 Nissan Altima Press Kit

The 2.0 in the Altima is the "variable compression" engine used in the Infinity. This is a pioneering engine design. The first of its kind. I believe the CVT is the Jatco JF019E. My sports sedan has the JF011E, several generations older. Mine has 90K miles and not only is trouble free, it is the best automatic transmission I've ever driven.

I don't think I've seen a 2019 Altima yet, I was just at the Minneapolis auto show last month but I don't think I even looked at the Nissan display.
It's a shame all the V6's are going away. I have a 2017 Accord Touring with a 3.5 V6 and it's a great engine. Honda dropped the 3.5 with the 2018 mode and it's now available with only 4 cylinders. The only reasonably affordable sedan with a V6 anymore are the Camry, Taurus and Charger models. Of those the Camry is the one I'd be most likely to purchase next.
I work for a Auto sales group, we have 3 Nissan dealerships, I'll have to stop into one of them and take a look at the new Altima and I'll tell you what I think/

The 2019 Altima should be hitting the lots in August or September.
It sounds like the car has a pop up screen that displays navigation and audio functions, some people are not sounding too thrilled about that because they have been problematic in other cars that have had them.
Personally I like the regular screen integrated into the dash that does not go up and down every time you start the car or shut it off.

The screen on the Altima is fixed on the 2019, just has the pop up look. Waiting to see if the 2.0 turbo has any "fun" factor in it.

You haven't seen a 2019 Altima because it just got introduced to the public on March 29th at the New York International Auto Show. | The Altima has a revolutionary engine. It uses the variable compression engine first used in the Infinity. 248 Hp out of 2.0 l. Compression varies from 8 to 14. Uses both direct and port F.I. and partial Atkinson cycle. An interesting advantage is the elimination of balance shafts. This engine is inherently balanced. 2 Tubes included. One is a promotional intro, while the other is in depth technical analysis.

The screen on the Altima is fixed on the 2019, just has the pop up look. Waiting to see if the 2.0 turbo has any "fun" factor in it. I see, might be sort of like the BMW and Audi models, they have that screen that looks like it's mounted on the dash and then all the controls are on the center console. I drove a 3 series from Des Moines to Minneapolis awhile back and it took me about halfway through the drive before I figured it all out. Personally I like the touch screen that is in the dash of my Accord, don't have to mess with buttons and knobs on the center console to control something that is on top of the dash, it's distracting. I've driven a few cars with a 2.0 turbo, it does what it needs to do but I still prefer a V6. I leased a Ford with a 2.0 in it, had it for about 2 years. MPG's were abysmal, I do better on MPG's with the V6 in the Honda I have now. I don't see a great fuel cost savings in getting a 2.0 turbo rather than a newer car with a V6. These newer V6's are pretty efficient on fuel.
