One of my interests is looking up on clear night skies - I do not subscribe (I'm frugal) - but just look around on the laptop when I've nothing better to do... I can't remember lots of the star names, can't really picture those greek outlines.... but I do like sitting outside in my garden wrapped in a blanket, watching bats fly by, listening to noises, like frogs, owls, birds. Hoping for a view of a satellite or shooting star, even Northern lights. Here are a few of my websites. www.spaceweather.com/flybys/flybys.php?zip=V9P1W5If you log in, add your post code (mine is the V9P for Parksville, Vancouver Island) --- you will be shown your latitude and longitude and the different times to watch for moving satellites. Eg: for today, April 2 Lacrosse 5 02:22:38 am NNE 02:26:47am 33° 3.5 (dim) Lacrosse 5 04:01:45 am WNW 04:06:04am 42° 3.0 (visible) Idefix and Ariane 42B 05:28:32 am NNE 05:32:50am 26° 4.1 (dim) Lacrosse 5 05:43:50 am WNW 05:48:53am 75° 2.1 (visible) ISS 09:13:08 pm WNW 09:16:24pm 58° -3.6 (very bright) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- stellarium.org/Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope. It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go. www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/astronomy/
