Can I be an admin, then I could at least do "public shaming" by posting who's using the most space, do automatic update of remaining disk space, and possibly even automate deletion?
I like being a bot.

So now what?? SHUT DOWN?

No. People need to learn how to post photos without using the site storage. Plain and simple...stop attaching photos, then delete any that have been stored in the site storage space.

Well, more of better management of space, delete old attachments, etc. Problem is that it's tough to find your attachments, except if you're the admin it seems.

I agree. It seems that PRO-BOARD isn't in favor of the people, giving a limit of 200 MG for an approx. 1000 people? Even I can see the problem there. - Unless it is a come-on to get more money from more people??? I prefer people who are up-front at peg 1. Also has anyone offered instructions on where and how to meet the qualifications here. The only qualifications we know about : 200 mg. Perhaps we should have been informed as to HOW to guard that. The very great opportunities here are lovely, but, the program capabilities don't seem to be capable, unless we are paying customers. WHAT ELSE IS AVAILABLE?? ANYBODY KNOW? It seems all we hear are generalities.

disk space isn't free, and they're indeed hoping that as popularity increases, more space is needed and hoping popularity drives the owner to pay for more space.
Need to better share, ultimately. With 600+ users, not everyone can get a full MB but 0.3MB works, good for three 640x480 pictures.
Public shaming sounds like a neat solution...or at least a reminder that they're using their "quota." Granted there are people who don't attach pictures by using offsite storage, and that helps a lot.

Public shaming could be a 2nd step, but the first step would be private notification and what the person can do about it, outside of leaving.
640 x 480 three times is very little for infinity. Also it is late in the game to find that out. Information like that on day one would have changed the whole picture.
Maybe they should sell advertising space. Nobody gets hurt.

Oh, the public shaming should disappear once they cleaned up...so no sweat. It's just disk space. Also there should be a threshold, if there's plenty of free space -- no complaints.
Well there appears to have been one query about disk space early on but it was brushed off as possibly infinite... would have been nice if action was taken then however.
It's all up to admins now, it's extremely difficult for mere mortals to find these attachments - this fact is contributing to the problem. If someone could point to which posts, or at least threads, that contain the attachments, it would make things a lot easier. Then if there was an automated way of deleting them, even better - nobody needs to feel bad deleting anything, just blame the auto-deleter...

Actually "leaving" is worse. If that person stops logging in and doesn't make an effort to delete the attachments, then the admin will have to clean up every single one... so better not make them leave

I think the whole marketing ploy behind the 200 MB storage scheme is to get everyone ultimately signed up for their "latest" only $2.99 per month and get no more advertisements...which I believe is just the start of an on-going escalating monthly fee sham.
Previously I reluctantly turned off my AD Blocker at PB's unrelenting bleating requests and within a 24 hour period I was receiving over 30 Advertising E-mails which were automatically being dumped into my SPAM folder so I turned the Ad Blocker back on and when/if they decide to cut me off that will be fine as I fail to see this site going anywhere...

"The illusion of a free forum!"
Hard to see how it's a sham or a marketing ploy to offer only a small amount of space, or an illusion This website's operation is a business, not a charity. That it offers what you think is a a storage scheme is simple business, offering you something free with the business (called profit) expectation of trying to make money eventually. Would you provide your professional services, your skills and ability, to everyone, especially strangers, who wanted them at no cost? Or would you expect something in return for your time and efforts?
Seems to me that it's enough that CampKohler is giving a lot of his time and effort at no cost. Why should the company that developed and provides the forum platform for him?

No. People need to learn how to post photos without using the site storage. Plain and simple...stop attaching photos, then delete any that have been stored in the site storage space. :) The answer seems this simple -- only CampKohler (Sacramento CA) knows if it's really that simple. CK? If it's not hard, just post a note saying they'll all be removed by a certain date, followed by a note asking folks to stop attaching photos. The fact is that 200 MB for this many users is just too small, and this group's nature, generally, is we're way too cheap to pay! Remember, nearly all of us got together to try to save pennies on gas prices!

I wouldn't go as far saying "stop attaching photos" but rather "be judicious adding photos" -
Again, for members to keep track of photos is HARD. I can't seem to find out the easiest way to know where the attachments are except by manually going through every post, which is infeasible. Only the admin (shouldn't there be more than one at some point?) seems to have an easy way to find these attachments. If this data could be exported to us somehow, whether by script or something, this would make non-admin, self management easier.
