There is no evidence of the afterlife or a sky daddy. Sorry about your luck.

Nonsense. "Faith" is the "belief" in the absence of evidence.
Atheists don't claim that there is evidence that God doesn't exist. They claim that there is no proof that He does and they don't have that "faith."

While the definition seems to vary, in general:
Atheists believe in the non-existence of God.
Agnostics (which once described me) believe it is unknown, if not unknowable, whether or not God exists. That is, they do not categorically deny God's existence, as do atheists.
In practice, there is not always that much difference.

GTH, Might I ask what you are now? I believe you are a Christian now, but, I would like to check that out so I am not making up something
I came to this topic to share Christ here. To share God the father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. I too once believe there may be a God way out there watching over all. I thought I was a religious person, religious about brushing my teeth, religious about caring for the children that needed homes, and religious about thinking maybe there was and maybe there wasn't a God. No God seemed to watch over the horror of my childhood life, He sent no one to help me get through college. Oh, wait, maybe he did watch over me, I applied for every scholarship by writing a paper and the usual stuff, grades, and work ethic..... My entire college was paid for by The American Legion...maybe God sent them. I went to talk after graduating to as many American Legions as I could....grateful, would not be a big enough word to say how I felt. Back to Christ.....I am a very scientific evidence person so one day I challenge this maybe there, maybe not there, God...to send me a babysitter. He did better than that... He came. My voice was taken ( I usually talk way too much anyway) and rendered me unable to move. Then he appeared in my very regular living room. He did not look like I expected he would look, later studying the Bible, I saw the description of the risen Christ in Revelation 1:12-16 it was just like what I had seen that day. I wanted to talk, the room whited out completely...and like garbling water, a deep voice came from my mouth and said, "rest now, Mary". I have rested ever since, I have rested in Christ Jesus. I did not want him to go but he said all that I needed to hear. Can you imagine my husband getting home from work and saying, what did you do today. Jesus came here...and I found a Bible (one someone gave me when I grad. , had to dig through boxes to find it. I called your sister and told her I hated her, but I told her a Bible story. She found it in Romans... we both hated each other and we cried and told each other we loved each other.....we marched on from there. I been reading the Bible all day. My husband said, Good, could we have dinner. hahahahhah Seems he didn't see what I did. hahahah I went to work and told everyone....I was like a fire spreading. God gave me wisdom, and drove me to step out for Christ. I have never stopped. I was 27 when Christ came to me. I have never seen him since, (although I long for that). Now, I have heard all of man's explanation for this change in me. Some are far out. But, I see Jesus now in changed lives. He has kept me alive when I was dying, at least five times. Once when the doctor told my family I would die soon....but, they didn't know Jesus was not done with me. Weaselspit, said we should love all religions or non religions so I am here. If you need to talk to me write me a note here. If you need prayers for anything in your life, I will pray for you. I wish all to know what I know....the peace. Thank you for your time.

Why would you move his post to Christianity Thread. He was not discussing Christianity, he was defining unbelief types. I basically...should not bother unbelief.. unless they would rather define unbelief themselves. In fact GTH never mentioned his belief/unbelief system.
I used to think I was Atheist, then after a discussion with someone they believed that I used to be an agnostic. But, now as I look back with definitions before me I believe I was a deist.

thats quite a story of salvation......but science would likely call it imagination!? a well known trait of the human mind. basically because it does not effect anyone but the imaginer!? so imagination is defined as not confirming a new reality!? is reality determined by the combined mind focus of all humanity living!?

I do not care what folks call my experience, I know that in a matter of minutes I knew things I had never know about God, Christ, and Holy Spirit. After that lives were changed, people I worked with became Christians , neighbors who were very religious, became Christian. Not from what I said, or did, but because of the Holy Spirit spoke right to their need. I went to every actual Bible and history book I could about Christ. To talk to those who are religious, or those who are atheists. I needed to know what God knew. I do not recommend running out and talking to just anyone who is very religious, or pantheistic, or lost...pray and leave the change, and message to come from indwelling Holy Spirit. Only he knows the inner workings of man and their need. My brother has been very ill, his wife wrote to us and said, Pray to the Universe for him. My husband was braver than myself, He said, "I will pray to my Jesus to heal him." She is in college now studying to be a minister of Woke. She was in the insurance business, very high up. Universalism has been around for a long time. Just getting it's resurgence again. I think you would be very happy with my sister in law, praying to the universe.

I guess I thought this topic was about whether God is who he says he is....and his meeting me where my doubt was....Not everyone has to see to believe; like, look at Thomas. Thank God that is so.
dtt, be sure to write me the minute you meet God. It was good to see you.

I was raised Catholic but was never "into" it...Mom and Dad said get in the car, we're going to Mass, and that was that. I did spend a few years attending CCD classes but, again, wasn't really into it. (Unlike my younger brother, who was an Altar Boy for a few years.)
My "coming to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus" experience is quite a long story and was a process that, actually, took a few months. By nature, I'm very skeptical and can be even cynical but, as they say, seeing is believing and I've seen and felt and even talked to the Lord God, His Son, and His Holy Spirit. (Like the Jewish faith teaches, God is One and He's in three Persons...this is even proven numerous times in the Jewish Bible the Torah, or Tanakh.) Christianity is simply the fulfillment of the Jewish prophecy that salvation comes from the Jews and that the King of the Jews, the Lamb of God, would save not only the Jews (who believed) but also the Goyim, the non-Jews. It's really not that complicated once you study the Holy Bible...it's all in there! Every question is answered! Why does God allow suffering and pain? It's in there! Why is there so much evil in the world? Satan and his demons (1/3rd of the holy angels who fell from heaven with him) are real and they are constantly at war with God and His Holy Angels. (Who outnumber them, by the way, by 1/3 to 2/3rds so that's comforting to know born again Christians are on the winning side!)
The gospel of Jesus Christ is beautifully expressed in the meeting between Jesus and a Jewish High Priest named Nicodemus in John Chapter 3. (And notice Jesus cut right to answer Nicodemus was wanting to know...how to be saved.)
Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
“How can this be?” Nicodemus asked.
“You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

I have to tell you that there are the strangest things I have seen and have happen since becoming a Christian, even I am struck...amazed. God does hear us. I was working nights in ICU/CCU. I was working with an atheist as secretary. I really liked this young lady and she was a friend. She liked to challenge me at times...much like you ddt. Well, I had a pt. who was dying from cancer of the wind pipe. Horrible. He was down to just a loud whistle to breathe. I met his family and their minister was there to be with them, the minister was from a large cult. They wanted a break to rest a while..I said, I would stay right with him. They left... I stayed there and the secretary said to me while I was getting a drink...Mary, he is going to die in minutes, and are you not going to talk to him about his soul. ouch. Yep, gonna right now. His eyes were closed, so I leaned close to his ear and asked him if he new Jesus Christ as his Savior? He shook his head, No. I said, are you aware you are dying now....he shook his his yes. I said, to you want to be with Jesus when you die....shook his head yes. since he couldn't talk I started praying for him..I said, if at anytime you do not agree squeeze my hand. I knelt my head next to his face and just started praying for Jesus to come.......save this man....take him home with you. All of a sudden in a clear voice the man started to pray about his sins and his need to know Jesus, now. He prayed a while and then just became quiet. The secretary ran to get his family. He died in maybe 10-15 mins. Both the secretary and I sat there stunned at what had happened. God's ways are not always our ways, but they are His ways. The man didn't whistle after his prayer, he just breathed quietly and then died. Now, don't mistake miracles for being me....If the Holy Spirit wants he will lead you. I am told to go into all the world, so I go.

Once again...this is not the political forum. I do not want to circle around Politics..I want to stand with my Savior...and go as he asks. Politics is a diversion for you, because you do not have the Holy Spirit. So I realize you will always just talk about all you know. Politics.
