Is there a way to save a draft in case computer has issues before the post or message is sent? A few times I've had it come back automatically with a message asking me if I want to continue the draft. It was a very happy surprise, but more recently I've lost posts and a personal message with no draft reappearing.
We had a bad electrical storm earlier and I quickly shut down my computer to unplug it. I thought I'd sent the personal message I'd been writing, but when I came back it was not there, either as sent nor as a draft, that I can find.
I don't see a way to create or access a draft intentionally. If there is a way, I'd sure love to know what it is. Thanks.

Assuming a problem is at other than your PC, before you submit your post, select the text and save it to the clipboard. That way if the server blows it or there is some unrecoverable transmission problem, you need only paste the text into a new post and try again. If you suspect you might have a problem locally—storm nearby, dog trips on cord, etc.—compose your message in Notepad (or similar editor), saving often to a file. When done, paste the file's text into the message and post it. That should be bulletproof.
Another technique for PMs is to send the portion of a msg you have written to yourself. Then copy the received text and paste it into a new PM to yourself in preparation for adding additional text. Rinse, repeat until you have the whole msg finished, whereupon you send it to the intended addressee.

thanks, but IOW, there is no draft function here? I wonder how it appeared those times when it did.
I have an iMac, don't know what notepad is. I know I could save to a text edit file, but I don't, it's too time consuming and I just don't think of it. And often it's an unanticipated situation. I was hoping for something that is a part of this site, if there is such a thing.
If I copy it and my computer or browser shut down, it's gone. Or do you mean to a clip board here on the site?

Seems some forums (xenforo seems to be one) keep track of your every keystroke so they will be able to save all your drafting as you type it...
personally this is very discomforting and thus I would rather copy and paste into a text file if I want to continue a post later.

...is no draft function here? Here is the official draft function. It was in some cryptically-named area called the User Guide. Imagine that. I have a Mac, don't know what notepad is. It's a simple text editor free with all Windows (in Accessories). Surely there is an equivalent in Mac. Or do you mean to a clip board here on the site? The clipboard is an internal storage area in Windows, which is operated by menu selection or these shortcut keys: - [Ctrl-A] - select all text
- [Ctrl-C] - copy selected text to clipboard
- [Ctrl-V] - paste contents of clipboard
But I guess that is all passé now thanks to you. See what you've done? We no longer can live in the blissful ignorance.

AFA the draft function. It appears when you start to compose a post and then change your mind. When you delete the post, the draft editor offers to resume where you left off.
*NOTE I am posting on the phone, so I am not using good formating here. Too much work to manually format. Apologies for the small text.

It sounds like the TextEdit that I referred to. I have too much disorganized info on it, so I don't like to use it for short-term temporary stuff.
Yes, that's what I thought the clipboard referred to. It's the same on my Mac, except we use Command instead of Control. I was wondering if there was one exclusively to this site. That's ok, I was just wondering. If I copy to my computer clipboard it disappears when the computer is turned off and restarted, which I do after a browser crash, too.
Maybe they don't want us non-admins to see it; the draft function link doesn't work (a 404 page not found error). I still haven't retyped the personal message I lost the other night. I was sure I'd sent it before turning computer off, but it's not there. Sure wish I could somehow retrieve it.
I'm not sure about using this BBCode, so will see if it looks right after it posts. It's hard for me to read in it to compose, though. Thanks CK

The reason the link returned a 404 error is you must use the secure transfer protocol, https, not the standard protocol, http in this particular link here on this forum. http://gbo.freeforums.net/user-guide/profile-preferences/drafts = wrong https://www.proboards.com/user-guide/profile-preferences/drafts =correct here are the instructions for enabling drafts
