A year ago this week, I decided to give Windows another try.
I wanted to test my Web site on Windows because I only had a Mac. I discovered one difference relating to the ad blocking protection integrated into the Opera browser.
I bought a $200 ASUS. Quad-core Intel Atom, 11.6" screen, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB SSD, Windows 10.
Took me about three and a half hours to decide Windows wasn't bad as some people on GasBuddy said it was.
Soon decided that, since I never found anything that I liked as well as Expression Web for Windows for editing my Web site, I'd go retro.
I'll admit that lasted about six weeks. Decided to try Adobe Dreamweaver again. Liked it. Enough to subscribe to it.
Then, on the last Sunday of August 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit. Flood waters got my ASUS, but not my Mac.
When I got some money, I decided to buy a $369 pre-owned Dell. Definitely an improvement in the right direction! Dual-core Intel Core i5 with HyperThreading, 13.3" screen, 8 GB RAM, 160 GB SSD, Windows 10. At least I can install Microsoft's upgrades now!
I decided to get a ThinkPad late last October. Quad-core Intel Core i7 with HyperThreading, 15.6" screen, discrete NVIDIA graphics, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, Windows 10. Plenty of space for data now. I've got 513 GB free. Good thing that I popped for the terabyte SSD. And my ThinkPad has a slot for another one in case I fill up the first one.
