Going to the American Diabetes Association's annual Gala and being honored for being a top individual fundraiser, and a team captain of a top fundraising team. There were 10 people at our table, all from my team Paul's Pedalers. And, we heard from a camp counselor from Camp Needlepoint, a camp that is for diabetic kids, and also saw a video. It is a camp where diabetic kids can feel normal for once. Normally, every day, a diabetic kid (and adult) is always different. A diabetic (especially a Type 1) is frequently testing their blood sugar by poking their finger to get blood and applying it to a strip that is inserted in to a little meter, checking their insulin pump and or continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system, counting carbs, giving insulin either on their insulin pump, reacting to alarms from their insulin pump or CGM, worry about how much or little food they should or shouldn't eat, how to cover the food they are eating, acting strange because their blood sugar is low or high, and having an insulin pump on their body and people wondering why they still use a pager. I went to that camp in 1974 and 1975 it is was so cool! Back then everyone was giving insulin shots, and probably testing their urine, vs blood sugar testing these days on little meters and giving insulin thru an insulin pump.

Today l got up to a lovely surprise. The solar panels that were installed have started paying off. I actually got a credit this month.

enjoyed a quick trip to Costco in Fairfield to buy gas, since the price is going up instead of down, and a few store items. Traffic was light for a Saturday, so glad l went. Pleasant trip.

I enjoying off road biking Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday out of town at a fabulous trail system. Sat & Sun got to ride with my eldest brother. Fun times. (I am actually better at something than he is. Well, I should clarify, he is very fast, but I have more skills for riding obstacles. He has raced road bikes for years, and just started mtn biking a few years ago.)

Biking all the way home yesterday and setting a new record for the amount of time it took. 1 hour, 43 minutes. Don't get too excited, there was a strong tail wind including some gusts. It was 22.7 miles. Prior record was 1 hour, and 57 minutes I believe.
