I found out that the camera app doesn't shut off automatically. If you take a pix and slip the phone in your pocket, it runs down pretty quick. Kill the app when done taking pix.

The GPS will heat up a phone (and drain the battery) real quick too. I remember to turn off "location" unless I'm using an app (such as Google Maps) that really needs to know where I am.

Pretty much any application that runs some loop will heat your pocket when "idle" ... problem is, locating those apps, and then coaxing the writer to fix it.
Using the GPS shouldn't really heat the phone and drain the battery -- unless that application is doing stuff that it shouldn't be doing, like updating the maps with your location (when in your pocket, you're not looking at the maps..) or keeping the radio on, tracking your every location, and uploading it to google/apple's servers...

I'm talking about while I'm driving with it, and of course it has to be "on" all the time to know where the phone is to update the map. If I forget to exit the application yes, it will get "warm in my pocket".
