I came back from driving out West and just amazed at the people blowing past me as I was going 80 out in South Dakota (that was the Posted Speed limit).
My Prius usually gets in the 50's on the dash, but it was low 40's going on interstate speeds.
Can't imagine what people passing me were getting...

Back in the days of 100% gasoline, I used to get 30 MPG in my 1997 RAV4. Now with E-10 Best I got on any SUV was 29 MPG, both with the RAV4 (now rusted out and sold for scrap) and my current Suburu Forester.

Back in the days when gas was under a dollar a gallon, I used to play the game of how fast can I go without getting busted. But when it hit two dollars a gallon I decided it was too expensive to waste speeding, so I always drive at the posted limit now.

If i keep my speed to 60-65MPH, all me cars get great mileage. For me 60-65MPH is normal. the nice things about interstates, if you don't like my driving...there are plenty of lanes to pass me.
All my mileages are at the 60MPH speed range and even 10 MPH over that does reduce my mileage a lot.

Ah. I can get 20 MPG on my 2011 Ranger at 65 MPH. There is a part of 80 that's posted at 70 and yeah, it really burns up gas to go that fast. As I recall wind loading is the square of the velocity, gets nasty fast. In some ways I'm sorry that I did not keep the 1982 Datsun King Cab PU with the SD-22 diesel engine going, even if it meant machining my own replacement parts! I could get from LA to SF (a distance of 405 miles) on 10 gallons of #2 diesel! It wasn't 4WD however, which I really need where I moved to.

38 MPGS Goinn N, at speeds close to 80 MPH with the A/C on...Coming back today 39.50 MPGS, speeds at about 70 MPH with also the A/C on.
(BTW on the way North I found myself running away from lane huggers, doing 95 mph a couple o' times, unreal)
