I found a single flip-flop the other day. Normally this would be an item for the trash can, even if it was a pair (I have an unreasonably-strong fear of stubbing my unprotected toes when wearing them). But I realized that the foam-like material, if cut up into small squares would make good non-skid equipment feet if glued or double-sided-sticky-taped to the bottom of electronics, storage boxes, etc. If the equipment is heavy, you would need to cut the feet bigger to prevent the weight of it from compressing the feet into flattened waffles.
Speaking of equipment feet, just about every piece of hi-fi gear has 2" round feet on them designed to look snazzy. This is independent of the quality of the gear and the desired appearance seems to be universally of the same design. They must be emulating some famous foot design. Whose?

Not only that, there are some integrated units that appear "stacked" and have fake "feet" to separate the inseparable components of the integrated units...
