No, "autonomous" means it operates entirely on it's own. As long as it's "connected", it can never truly be called "autonomous".

So when someone says "We need 5G for autonomous cars" they are lying. We don't need stinking 5G for truly autonomous cars!!!

I agree, and I also don't think the automakers should use the words "autonomous" or "self-driving" to describe these cars. People get the entirely wrong idea. "Driver assisted" is more like it.
