Jay Mountain - 3600' peak in the Adirondack Mountains, in the town of Jay. A favorite of many Adirondack hikers because of its long, open summit ridge which offers continuous views. Killingworth, CT. Established in 1667, it was named after Kenilworth, England in honor of one of the first settlers, Edward Griswold. In the late 17th century, Killingworth became the birthplace of what would eventually become Yale University. Yale's first president taught some of the first classes in his Killingworth home.

Peekamoose Gorge - Catskill Mountains, along the Rondout Creek between Olivebridge and Sundown in Ulster County. A narrow valley featuring the several waterfalls, Peekamoose Lake (privately owned), and the Peekamoose Blue Hole (a swimming hole that has become so popular that advance reservations are now required on weekends and holidays May 15 - October 15). Several hiking trailheads are also in the gorge for nearby mountains including Peekamoose Mountain.
