Chemical analysis of the natural glass reveals that it is fortified with “meteoritic elements with typical chondritic proportions,” leading scientists to believe that the glass is the chemical result of a meteorite colliding with the nearly 100% silica composition of the sand.)

Sailing Stones of the Racetrack Playa in Death Valley, CA. (The sailing stones seem to strangely move on their own, leaving long trails behind them in the cracked clay. NASA research suggests that during the winter months, ice forms around the rocks, perhaps allowing them to slip across the frozen surface.)

Zhangye Danxia mountains, China (known for the unusual colours of the rocks, which are smooth, sharp and several hundred meters tall. They are the result of deposits of sandstone and other minerals that occurred over 24 million years. The result (similar to a layer cake), was tilted by the action of the same tectonic plates responsible for creating parts of the Himalayan mountains. Wind, rain, and time then sculpted extraordinary shapes, including towers, pillars, and ravines, with varying colors, patterns, and sizes.)
