My pleasure.
Now you can be "mother" and post a welcome topic explaining what the topic is for and so forth. I can sticky it so that it always is at the top of the topic list. You would have the duty to update the text from time to time by editing it to add new uses for the board or whatever you think is important for newbies should see. Later, upon request, sub-boards can be added for uses that become really popular and existing topics on that use can be moved there.
Newbie questions, etc. can be handled in several ways:
1) The welcome topic is left open to replies, in which case it will grow a long tail over time. User queries and any replies will cause the topic to grow, possibly making it too big for users to paw through.
2) The welcome topic is locked and never grows. The text advises queries to be posted in a second, questions topic (stickied also?) created for the purpose. It would grow in the same way as 1), but queries and answers would be there for others to peruse.
3) The welcome topic is locked and never grows. The text advises queries to be posted in a separate topic for each. Unless there is some posting activity in the querying topics later, the answered queries will drift to be bottom and be out of sight and mind.
What do you think?
PS: I am adding to the board description that it includes collecting (of whatever kind) as that is sort of crafty. :-) A sub-board can be created if that aspect takes off.
