It's 30° and cloudy in the backyard this morning.
rover11 - I used to live in Newark (pronounced "New Ark) Delaware, which is ~100 miles from Newark (pronounced "Newerk") New Jersey and found out that there are close to 80 Newarks in the world. I thought it might be kind of neat to visit all of the Newarks in the USA, but that kind of fell by the wayside. I'll bet that there's a bunch of Mansfields out there too.
booksfly - yup, the Philly area is getting it again today according to what I've read. I was watching a webcam in Kentucky last night when the snow started there - lucky guys
John747 - lucky you down in sunny Florida! You can send some of that nice weather up this way any time now.
sabob - we have three red buds in our back yard, all grown from NAD bare rooted plants. Last year they were mature enough to be seen from the highway - check them out when you come by the next time while they're blooming. Yep, 4 months is a long time - they got their money's worth out of you (and you got your own private site, don't forget)
cocopaz - I have a cousin in Santa Barbara! Nice area out there except when there's mud slides, fires, and or earthquakes (can you tell us when one of the three isn't happening??).
zoebug98 - I have to ask: did you ever live in NYC or Long Island? That being said, I'll be you're ready for Spring. It's been a long hard Winter, for sure!
bluwahoo - so, you must be out by Pensacola. Went to the NavyAir Museum there a couple of years ago while visiting Destin. I'll check out the VIRGINIAN BAR - I like that icon!
MaddogUSMC - I hope you put the top back up before leaving yesterday, otherwise, you would have had a flood (that's why Jeeps have drain holes in their floors). PLEASE send up some of that 80° weather!!
loranda - no, actually the word WAS iron, not onion. When I lived in the Philly area they called it an iron snow because the last snow of the season was usually very heavy and broke a lot of branches on trees, etc. The weight was due to warmer temps and a sudden snow had more moisture in it. I don't do crossword puzzles, but I used to do cryptograms - that also helps keep the mind sharp.
drdenny - hmmmm, obviously it didn't work, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Have you tried using your computer on the link I left in GBLand? I'm still getting used to this, but do like it better than GB except that I haven't figured out pictures yet (I added more g.hens and a possum yesterday and this morning they were out by the mailbox when I got the paper). Don't know what to say about Skipper not loading - did you SAVE your profile after uploading Skipper's image?
joelimo - let's not get too much snow down there - Spring is very close and snow doesn't deserve to be here now.
johnmori - good morning John!
LOL - good morning LOL!

I think you are probably right about that. The ones that have always amazed me are the country and overseas city names we have. Like Paris being only a few miles from Mexico. (in Missouri) I guess that comes from having been a history and geography fan.
About 47 right now and suppose to get up in the mid 60s with lots of sunshine. Yesterday was the mid 80s and cloudy all day.,
Have a good one and enjoy the day!

Thought the wind was either gonna tip us over or tear the awning off overnight, not bad now but chilly with frost warnings for tonight. I sejohnmori reports from Birmingham about 100 miles NE of us. Enjoy the snow !!

@ niaw1 - Pensacola is correct. The Naval Museum is a must for everyone to see. Hope you liked the visit.
Currently 60° with a real feel of 55° and wind blowing 25 mph. Very chilly afternoon here.
It's National Nap Day (the day following daylight savings time change). Everyone get a nap for that lost hour yesterday.

29 in Chambersburg with 71% humidity and a dew point of 21. It snowed most of the day yesterday but never stuck until around 5. Everything is white except the roads and sidewalks. Works for me, but I’d rather have spring!
Wain, the pic I chose obviously didn’t stick. Will try again. It didn’t like Skipper’s pic because it was too big.

NW Pennsylvania 24F, 88% RH, 29.84> Cloudy Snow Showers Good Morning, niaw. Looks like it will only get up to 30 today. An Iron Snow! Well, that's lodged in my brain for future reference. Hope it didn't push out something important! : ) Dentist appt. went well. All set for 6 more months. as I'm typing this, the entry box is right below the picture of laceylady's cat. Look at those eyes!

Have a great day all!

It's 28° and partly sunny in the backyard this morning. We had ~1" of snowfall overnight, but the sunshine is starting to melt it of the driveway and streets. Is this the end of Winter?? I hope so!
rover11 - mid-60s?!! I would love to see that here in north central PA. It WILL happen, but when - I have no idea. Next thing will be is that we're complaining about the heat.....
pa1929 - we've never been to Colorado; been around it on our way west, but not through or in it. Our traveling friends say it's beautiful (she's from your area) and maybe we'll drive out your way to see in person.
sabob - you obviously leave your awning down at night. Do you use an anchor to keep it from flipping up in high winds? That would be just great - replacing your awning after the problems you've had this Winter. As you'll notice above, we had about an inch of snow last night - not even enough to bring out the plows in our township.
bluwahoo - I did not realize that yesterday was National Nap Day, but have marked it on my calendar! Now I have an excuse for my better ½ - I just tell her that I'm trying to make up for lost sleep for the next 6 months (one hour of now time - minute of Standard Time lost = 1 hour of nap time in Daylight Savings time
drdenny - oh, you hadn't mentioned image size. That makes sense! Do you know how to use Gimp? That could help you in reducing the file size.
johnmori - kind of cold down there this morning!!
laceylady - glad that we in the East are helping to make you feel comfortable
loranda - I thought everybody knew what an iron snow was - so much for that thought. Yup - ole Blue Eyes!
Have a great day everyone!

I live in Santa Barbara, 3 miles from Oprah and the rest of Montecito. It is pouring now. The following is from the Office of Emergency Management:
Mandatory Evacuation Order in Place for Extreme Risk Areas A Mandatory Evacuation Order has been issued for individuals in Extreme Risk (red) areas near the Thomas, Sherpa, and Whittier burn areas. Individuals must be out of the evacuation area by 8 p.m. tonight. Those in High Risk (yellow) areas are under Recommended Evacuation Warning.
If you are unsure if the orders apply to you, the county has an interactive map on its website at readysbc.org/ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+ Emitió una orden de Evacuación Obligatoria inmediato:personas en zonas de riesgo extremo(rojo)cerca de los incendios Thomas Sherpa Whittier. Personas deben estar fuera de la zona de evacuación antes de las 8pm zonas de riesgo alto(amarillo)bajo. Evacuación Recomendada. ow.ly/6caF30iUiPw
