Mr. Geo: sorry that WAS you. Tasty looking pizza. I like their pizzas.
goldie: chocolate bread: yummmmm. Whole "Wallet" has chocolate cherry bread (real cherries, NOT flavoring) that is to die for.
Am woefully down on bananas. I really stocked up on cat food so there wouldn't be a revolt.

Frozen Mushroom Medley. A wonderful thing. Yesterday, Spouse took Mushroom Medley + eggs + onions + leftover French fries from a burger place and made a "Surprise". We call them surprises whenever we grab a bunch of things and throw them into a pot, willy nilly. It was very good.

A list I sent on a PM that you can all enjoy:
1. leftover "helper": frozen asparagus risotto , mushroom risotto, mushroom ravioli, different alfredos...
2. someone from the TJ forum suggested frozen Linguini in clam sauce, which I bought but haven't eaten yet.
3. frozen Italian meatballs. Have had them in the "cafe" with Sriracha Garlic BBQ sauce. LOVE that sauce.

Never been to a Trader Joe's

I was curious and looked to see if there's any Trader Joe's in the Houston area. There are, but they're so far away from me that any frozen food would melt before I got it home.
They need to build a store in the area around Johnson Space Center for all the highly paid rocket scientists!

Never been to a Trader Joe's Whhhhhhaaaaatttttt? Goodness, you haven't lived. Some people from this forum live in the Twin Cities area and there are 2 around there, if I remember correctly. If you are visiting the neck of the woods where they are located , please consider stopping by and seeing what all the hoopla is about.

1. I use a styrofoam box with ice packs, all of which I've gotten for free. I call it my car's frig. 2. Great idea.

Hello Goldie, Frisper, Coco & and any one else I missed.
Just in here wondering around. I'll probably never get to a real one. I feel this one is pretty much owned & run by Coco.
Nice seeing all of you again. Bye for now

Coco, we have more than two in the Twin Cities Metro area. There are two that I go to most often, but lately I've been traveling to a different part of town more frequently, and I go to a third one over there. It's larger than the other two. We have at least two more in the metro. One I know for sure is in the city of St. Paul. That's why I am so surprised at other large metro areas that have only one.
The three I go to are in suburbs. There has been talk of one going in somewhere in the city of Minneapolis, but I don't know where that stands now. There have been issues with some of the proposed locations. One of my GB friends used to read the business journals and kept me informed on these kind of things. But sadly he's passed away.

YUM - Coco, that list looks impressive - maybe I'll have the hubby stock up on those freezer items i'm trying to consume "whole foods" - not produced products, but it's always good to have something on hand to just have a quick meal ... if you're buying them, i'd have to presume those burritos must be tasty

I went to Trader Joe's tonight and picked up broccoli, celery and rainbow carrots for a relish tray tomorrow. My daughter told me about a delicious frozen spinach dip that needs to heated...hmmm interesting. I bought some so I'll report back how it tastes

No matter where a Trader Joe's is located, l seem to find a lot of traffic around it. Must be because they draw so many people? I have lived a ways from Tj's at times and use their bag l bought that is insulated to carry frozen items in to keep them fine til l got home. 15 miles . l now live a few blocks from Tj's and still use that insulated bag, as l might spend time in other stores. My bag has Hawaiian flowers on it and it makes me feel festive. Love Hawaii. Love that they wear Hawaiian shirts too. One of the ladies from my Lunch Bunch had a heart attack and came home from hospital yesterday and stopped at TJ's to shop before being brought home. She had 3 large bags full of food, and some milk and a bag of potatoes as well. I went to take her a chicken pot pie and unloaded her cart to the counter for her. Then we visited a short time. Glad l took chicken, as her diet has been changed from the way she used to eat she said.

C&P from a poster in another area here in GBO land:
They're building a TJ about 5 miles from my house in Germantown, TN. (The TJ is in GT. I live in adjacent Cordova, both of which are suburbs on the east side of Memphis.) We moved here from Houston, TX almost 12 years ago, and at the time we had no ALDI stores in or around Houston... maybe not anywhere in Texas... and I'd never heard of them. We have ALDI stores here, and after getting over my unfamiliarity w/ their stuff, tried some of it & found almost everything to be as good as (or better than) most national brands, and it's a whole lot cheaper. ALDI's stuff is just rebranded national brands anyway. For example, Turner Dairy, located a few miles north of Memphis, provides milk to the local Kroger stores where it sells for over $4.50 a gallon. A friend found an invoice from Turner to the ALDI store where she was shopping one day just lying on top of a case of cereal. She turned it in to an employee who was grateful as well as horrified it had been left lying around. The same gallon of milk at ALDI sells for only $2.69.
TJ has been "trying" to break ground in GT for over two years. GT has very restrictive code ordinances, and b/c of all the red tape more than once TJ has threatened to abandon the whole project. Apparently they finally reached an agreement b/c construction is well on its way in part of a former Kroger store. No word on when it's supposed to open (it was supposed to open two years ago), but I'm looking forward to being able to check it out. Heaven knows Kroger needs some serious competition around here!
