Some humor:
What I posted to the Other Website's news article "Environmental groups call for methane regulations from natural gas lost...":
How about the following alternative news article: "Environmental groups call for methane regulations from natural gas lost from cows "... laughing on a VERY rainy day in Santa Barbara.

Mr. G, what prices! Unfortunately we don't have a Meijer's here. TJ bananas are 19¢ here, which translates to about 25¢/#, depending on size. You should stay with Meijer's for eggs and milk. Cocoa is better and cheaper at TJ. REAL cocoa, not namby pamby Swiss Miss junk. I DO have my opinions...Pound Plus Chocolate Bars are cheaper and of better quality than most places that aren't small specialized chocolate stores. Don't even TALK to me about See's pseudo-chocolate. Avocados are cheaper and better. LOTSA wines, most cheaper than elsewhere and lots of them better than elsewhere, unless you are used to $50+ wines. Many TJ items are specialty items, which we TJ-aholics buy because we like them, so there is no real price comparison.TJ has an excellent return policy. They don't give you the third degree and often you don't have to have your receipt or the object with you. Sounds like you have a better "Trader Joe's" than my city. I don't drink wine, so I didn't check out the store's prices. Nor would I know if that was a bargain or not. Our "Trader Joe's" sells a lot of kitchen tools from China and food from foreign countries. Even the wood chips I purchase from them comes from China. (they're from World Market)
You mentioned it depended on the size of the banana; our grocery stores charge by weight here. Small bananas are the same as large bananas, just pay by the weight. They will discount them to $.25lb when the skins start to speckle; but that's a discount, and not their normal price.
For groceries, we have a lot of choices: Regular grocery stores
Retail stores that also sell groceries

Anyone have a Sumatra Coffee Brownie ? Get yours and enjoy !!! Yes we've tried them and have the following report: 1. me: almost as good as our homemade Espresso Brownies. Inside is nice and soft and chewy. 2. spouse: too much coffee Interesting thought: sometimes people eat chocolate with red wine. Maybe we should try red wine with these brownies. Anything for science... My spouse would have said the same thing! I would love to try these brownies, I would love to drink red wine with chocolate, therefore, I think I would REALLY love to drink red wine with these brownies!!! *almost* anything for science

Howdy everyone! So glad to hear neither human nor natural disasters have taken their toll directly on anyone here, and I continue to pray for the safety of all people in this country and the world. I am hoping to make a trip to TJs before we leave next Wed and am looking for your suggestions as to what would make a good treat to take back to the coworkers at the office, or even good staples for my cupboards at home - we have a 2 hour drive to depart from Ontario and a layover in Seattle, so produce/perishable things would be difficult - but frozen things I can leave here to 'welcome' me on the next trip would be awesome too! Coco, I know you get your feline food here - don't wanna really get the kitties used to canned food I can't regularly get, but if they have any treats you find valuable / trustworthy I'd love to bring them something home to make sure they know I love 'em

You all have my taste buds excited for something new. Going to try some hersheys chocolate with a glass of red wine later.
We bought milk chocolate Easter eggs yesterday. I love drinking Roscato ...sweet and fruity. Was served this red wine
@ Olive Garden recently and found it locally in several grocery and pharmacy stores.

I live in Napa a wine producing town and valley and l don't drink wine or anything...still l love Trader Joe's and go up and down the frozen foods aisle. Finding many treasures to me anyway. Those who don't like TJ's should continue in the store they like that's fine. "More for me" l used to say a lot.

TJ's had this Almond Vanilla cereal that was in a clear package, as opposed to being boxed, back in the days. Now it's boxed AND other notable cereal manufacturers have gone commercial with this flavor.

Hi, all! When I have time, I will detail more of my fav items. I do check prices, but I go for quality and taste. I had a small gathering on 3/10, (a rainy night to boot). Three of my friends went bonkers over a Greek spiral bread that has cheese between the layers that I served; believe it was $3.99. I only purchase nonless healthy/comfort food items for gatherings. I do not purchase bread unless it's healthy; but friends like items that are tasty for the gatherings.
My new fav cheese (had a small piece this morning with pita crackers (TJ's of course) is cheese infused with rosemary and olive oil. It was demoed (Spelling?) @ TJ's, so I knew it was tasty. SO yum! I purchase smaller pieces of cheese so they are used more quickly and fit within my budget.
Have a super Tuesday!

Hi all. Kathybye: "I only purchase nonless healthy/comfort food items for gatherings." What is "nonless"? I've been trying to figure it out, but haven't so far. I agree about the cheeses and do the same thing. Cheese infused with rosemary and OO sounds good. I haven't tried that one.
Frisper, I've made lists before when you asked, and I hope you made notes, as I don't have the time or energy to do it again now. But have fun trying new things. Some of the things I get you wouldn't want to travel with, such as frozen cauliflower pizzas or crusts. There's a relatively new snack that was really good and I remember mentioning it when I bought it. I don't recall exactly what it's called but it's some kind of sweetened coconut pieces. Comes in a small re-sealable bag. They were very yummy. Maybe a store employee can figure it out and steer you to them. Ok, now you've got me going on snacks: rippled sweet potato chips, Give Peas a Chance (or something like that), whatever cheeses strike your fancy. Alternative pastas: organic brown rice or black bean or lentil. Gotta stop!

Hi Goldie!! I have a list somewhere ... have bad memory myself so I do tend to write things down ... but then can't find them this trip, I didn't get to go as early as I wanted, therefore, being so close to leaving time I just bought a few sugar free dark chocolate bars for the gals that have been watering my office plants My husband did point out your cauliflower pizza crust and even wondered out loud what that would be like!! Maybe he's thinking we should give it a shot!! and I'll definitely be giving the pasta alternatives a good look over on our next trip, probably not until October I think what Kathybye - meant was she doesn't buy NonHealthy, or LessHealthy food stuffs except for entertaining - I would have loved to have some of that bread, although I am trying to improve my eating habits, a few carbs and fat would be acceptable once in a while *~* right?

Hi, frispercat and Goldieolds! You are correct, frispercat, that I do not buy non-healthy or less healthy snacks for daily consumption. Definitely I was typing TOO fast, and look what happens. I have to work the next 2 days, so may be unable to post. Depends upon work AND the traffic coming home. Yes, frispercat, a few carbs and fat are definitely acceptable. I try to make the high fat and loaded carbs a "treat day" at least once a week. I'll get the name of the bread later, but think the name Greek is in the title; it's located in the frozen section of TJ's. Have a great rest of your evening!

So glad there has been activity here while I was away over There, frantically reading stuff and looking at albums, etc etc.
Sorry, I've forgotten who wrote this. A nice person from Lexington Ky: Our "Trader Joe's" sells a lot of kitchen tools and food from China. Even the wood chips I purchase from them comes from China. Whoa none of the TJs I've ever gone to, and I make pilgrimages to TJs whenever I travel, has ever had those things. I love going to TJs in other states to see how they do things either the same or differently than we do here.
Have a good Sat night, everyone.

We have two Trader Joe's in Kentucky. They're in the two largest cities: Louisville and Lexington.
The Louisville, KY one is located within a corridor of shopping malls and shopping centers. So traffic tends to make me stay away.

Only one for the whole Louisville area? Oh dear! Traffic can still be bad at the TJ's with smaller parking lots, even now that there are several TJ's around the metro area.
Was just talking to someone yesterday about a yummy local bakery called Turtle Bread. They make the bread right there, and even the marked down "day old" that I used to look for was fresher than the shipped in stuff at TJj's. The two I used to love were the chocolate bread and one with olives (kalamata, if I recall correctly) and rosemary. I haven't been there in years, since I can't eat wheat any more. And I don't have people over like Kathy does. That was way before there was a TJ's here.
